We’ve all heard that only alcoholics drink alone. Well, what do you do if you are stuck at home on a Friday night and want to drink, but don’t want to have that “stereotype” attached to you?

I mean, you’re a good person and not a drunk right? The answer, my friend, is right in front of you: your gaming console. So, if you are of legal drinking age, follow the jump and see my personal top five list of the best video games to play while drinking.

Here are my top five picks and YES they are in order of my favorites.

1.) Full Auto (Xbox 360): YES people still play this game online. It’s a fun game where you get to race AND blow people up with land mines, heat seeking missiles, and other cool weapons. You can play this game drunkenly with much success, but you have to know the tracks inside and out first. The people that play it are cool too. Make friends with them and they will hold the next race while you make one of your dozens of beer induced bathroom runs.

2.) Rock Band (Multiple platforms): There is nothing better than drunken karaoke in the comfort of your own home. It gives you all of the fun of karaoke without the embarrassment…unless you forget to turn your headset mic off. Grab a drink and a group of friends and jam out.

3.) PGR4 (Xbox360): The Bulldog mode on PGR4 is great for drinking & gaming. For those not familiar with the game this is basically an 8 person game of tag in cars. One person starts out as the bulldog and he/she has to tag the remaining people. Once you’ve been tagged you get to help hunt down the others. Last car standing wins. The reason this is great is that if you’re not tagged, you can find a good hiding and just drink, drink, drink until they track you down. Remember to keep one eye on your drink and the other on the screen so you can hit the gas when the bulldog gets too close.

4.) The Sims/Sim City (PC): There’s something fun about getting sloshed and playing God. I like to build up my happy little home in The Sims and then kill off the residents. I like to build little rooms around them and laugh as they die. Don’t judge me… Sim City is great too because after those dozens of hours you spent building your city in one drunken night you can send aliens, fires, or whatever makes you happy and just destroy it all.

5.) Gears of War (Xbox360): True, I don’t play shooter games. I’m not good at them at all. But for some reason, after I’ve been drinking, I stop caring that I stink. Every once in a while, I will pop this game and play with a group of friends on Xbox Live. It’s a game within a game to try and see if I can live for more than ten seconds. Please note that people you don’t know won’t find it amusing if you play this game drunk and suck at it. I lost some rep figuring that one out.
