5) “Mortal Kombat vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
Could there possibly be a better way to celebrate the green heroes’ 25th birthday? You know, besides Ubisoft’s new “TMNT” brawler. These two franchises are polar opposites. The child-friendly IP is known for its corny jokes and surfer lingo, while “Mortal Kombat” is best described as a giant orgy of gore. The Heroes in a Half Shell scarf pizza, while Shang Tsung consumes his opponents’ souls. Still, the weapon-wielding ninjas would definitely be up to the challenge. Also, the franchise has a deep pool of characters to choose from. I am pretty sure Hothead would make Scorpion his little bitch.
6) “Mortal Kombat vs. Hell’s Kitchen”
Hell hath no fury like a professional chef berated in front of a television camera.
Alright, that last one was really ridiculous. I better stop now before I start naming old Nickelodeon shows.
Midway seems pleased with the retail performance of “Mortal Kombat vs. DC.” Though, the company has yet to reveal the number of units purchased by consumers. Still, I doubt retailers would order the game if people weren’t buying it.
As a fan of the old “Mortal Kombat” games, I really just want to see this franchise put to rest. Though, I doubt Midway would be willing to ax its most popular franchise. The company is in desperate need of funds and its portfolio isn’t exactly stacked. Here’s hoping the next game has Fatalities that don’t suck, Animalities and a big fat “M” on the package. Also, no more kart racing or chess games. Those provided about five minutes of entertainment and a lifetime of nightmares.
What about you SGC? What features would you like to see in the next “Mortal Kombat” game? Would you prefer a standard brawler, an action game (think “Shaolin Monks“) or another crossover? If you do want another crossover, which property would you like to see get the nod? “Darkstalkers”? “Primal Rage”? “Power Stone”? I expect answers like “Street Fighter,” “Marvel” and “Soul Calibur,” but hope to see some off-the-wall responses as well. Anyone want to see “Mortal Kombat vs. The Midnight Society“?
