You read it here first. With the UK and US general release of Ron Howard’s movie adaptation of the stage adaptation of the real life event, Frost/Nixon, Sony Computer Entertainment have announced that Relentless Software’s next Buzz! project will be their first ‘licensed’ venture, with a quiz-based adaptation of the new film on the way in time for the DVD release.
Exclusive details, after the jump.
“It just made sense to us,” remarked SCEE’s marketing manager Phil Doofus. “Buzz! already captured the feeling of starring in a quizshow in your living room, so interviewing Richard Nixon about the Watergate scandal was obviously the next natural step.”
Frost/Nixon: The Game, which will exclusively feature on the PS3 in game only and buzzer-inclusive packages, revolves around the hours of recording made of David Frost’s legendary interviews with the disgraced ex-President, the outcome of which was Nixon’s admittance of his involvement in the Watergate scandal.
The single-player campaign will allow players to either delve through the full 12 hours of interview taped and sling questions and comebacks at the former President as David Frost, or take part in a Quickfire Mode which lets you pummel Nixon with question after question, using the controller’s colored buttons and buzzer to pressure him into breaking.
Multiplayer modes will be extensive, allowing players to play as either Frost or Nixon and face off against each other locally or online. Alternative endings voiced – like the entire game – by Michael Sheen and David Langella will let you see what might have happened if Nixon had outdone Frost; this has been kept under wraps by Relentless Software but an insider has informed us that it involves “ridicule, embarrassment and…hippos.” Obviously.
No screenshots have appeared as of yet but we’ve been assured that they’re just as sharp as Buzz!: Quiz TV’s; expect Frost and Nixon to sport Muppet-style floppy mouths then. Frost/Nixon: The Game is scheduled for release sometime later this year, to coincide with the DVD/Blu-ray release. Expect anticipation levels to be buzzing.

Frost/Nixon was a good movie, and it’s gonna be a good… Oh crap it’s Friday!
