X-Play Pwns themself with stupid GOTY pick

X-Play picked their Game of the Year last night on, where else, X-Play. I’m not going to rehash their entire ridiculous list of games that they “nominated” for different “2008 honors.”  I just want to point out one thing and make two observations about their whole charade.

Ranty McRanterson, after the jump.

Observation #1: X-Play’s winner for best RPG was Fallout 3.

Observation #2: X-Play’s winner for Game of the Year was Fable II, an RPG…

What I wanted to point out:  The people that work at X-Play either don’t know what an RPG is, or they’re a bunch of fucking morons.

Hey jackasses!  Fable II is a RPG!!!!  Hellloooo!!!!   Wait, lemme guess, you let Morgan pick the winner this year…. Again.

Facepalm!

Now, for my nomination for biggest dumbass television show about video games…

I actually agree with Lono. It just seems dumb.

“Fallout 3 was the better RPG but Fable II was the better overall game. ”

Even if that was their thought process, it’s completely wrong. Both are RPGs in the end. Period.

It doesn’t matter that they’re both RPGs though. It’s safe to say that Fallout has more of an RPG feel than Fable, despite the setting. Because of how deep it is, it won best RPG. Fable, to them, was weaker in the RPG element, but stronger overall, hence why it won GOTY.

Let’s say, Lumines won Best Puzzler and Puzzle Quest won GOTY. They’re both puzzle games, but the additional RPG elements of PQ make it a better overall game.

It’s complicated, but there’s logic behind it if you think about it.
