The Wii, , had long been the cheapest next-gen console on the market. Considered by many to be more of a toy than a game console, and rightfully so, as it didn’t offer any of the high definition, hardcore gaming, voice chat goodness that the Xbox 360 and the PS3 offered. So what would happen when one of the previously named superior consoles dropped below the Wii in price points?
Let’s find out.
The Xbox Arcade was finally lowered to $199 this summer, but did that create a rush on 360’s? To be honest, no. The Xbox Arcade is incomplete without a hard drive, which insures that you’re gonna drop more to complete the set. You’re better off dropping $300 on the bundle that comes with a hard drive.
The Wii on the other hand, coming off of a shortage during Christmas ‘08, only increased it’s sales to more than twice it’s competition, combined. Nintendo unloaded over 2 million Wii’s in November ‘08 in the U.S. alone.
Dizam, I’d like to get a piece of that change.
Although I don’t understand why it happened, Xbox’s failed attempt to undercut the Wii is one of our top 100 moments of 2008.

No, no! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
So if consoles aren’t toys, what are they?
A “toy” is defined as – something that serves for or as if for diversion, rather than for serious pratical use. Or so the dictionary says.
You guys always SAY Wii is a toy but you never give any evidence, besides “We don’t like the games”.
