Apparently, Metal Gear Solid is an epic mish-mash of storytelling and compelling gameplay. I wouldn’t know because I’ve never played a Metal Gear game. Whenever I get into a discussion with someone about Metal Gear Solid, they always talk about how awesomely messed up the story is and how good the cutscenes are. Then they start talking about Solid Snake and frothing at the mouth, that’s usually when I walk away.
Well, it looks like the newest addition to the Metal Gear franchise is going to be so epic, they simply must add something new to it. Find out after the break.
TOUCH
That’s right, the next Metal Gear game will be called Metal Gear Touch and will be released for the iPhone and probably the iPod Touch.
Now, I’m all for people making games for these platforms, but does Metal Gear really seem like it would translate well onto a tiny touch screen? You’re certainly not going to be getting any of the epic cutscenes of the console versions, and the iPhone’s screen simply doesn’t feel like it would be all that good for shooting-based gameplay. Perhaps the stealth aspect of the game may work, but I always thought that required a little bit if finesse, which only an analog stick or perhaps d-pad could give you.
I may be wrong, but I may be right. At least hardcore Metal Gear Solid 4 fans have a new game to pick up that takes place in the same storyline. It should be released in Spring 2009.
Milking the franchise for all that it’s worth and putting it on a strange platform is why Metal Gear Solid Touch is #69 on our list of Top Gaming Moments of 2008.

Leave it Konami to put out the next Metal Gear on a f**king Ipod. If I was a Konami stock holder I would throw a 360 threw Kojima’s window. “HERE, you dumb bastard. Get a f**cking clue!”
Isn’t it a big clue when metal gear solid 4 had an ipod in it. I mean comon what sane person didn’t see this one coming
This game has a ton of potential and Kojima doesn’t release shi**y games.
For those that have no PS3 or have not watched a buddy play MGS4 you knew this was coming…you listed to R. Payton podcasts and music on Snake’s iPod.
Anyone thinking this was anything but MGS Touch was missed by Captain Obvious
