Nothing hurts a PC fanboy more than admitting to themselves: “yeah, I should have bought this game on a console.”
Rockstar’s juggernaut title Grand Theft Auto IV, received fantastic reviews on all three platforms, but had some, more than annoying problems, on the PS3, and the PC version worked about as well as ice skates on concrete. Rockstar’s promised patch fell short of settling all the major issues with the PC version and even added some new ones.
Find out why GTAIV’s bug riddled PC release and its lackluster patch made it on the list after the jump!
December 2nd, terrible Tuesday, a day that will live in infamy among PC gamers everywhere for generations to come. Grandfathers will shed tears as they tell the story to their grandchildren. Ok, maybe its not THAT bad, but the game WAS pretty damn buggy.
Now saying “buggy” has sort of lost its meaning a bit these days. Fanboys and uber shut-in critics throw the word around like crazy. So let me clarify just why GTAIV on PC has been called everything from “buggy” to “broken” to “some really awesome swear words I can’t write here.”
Major performance problems? Check. Poor frame rates, short draw distances and missing textures? Check. Error codes galore? Check. No SLI support? WTF?! Check. Nut smashing problems with the graphics reducing even high end rigs to using low/medium settings? OMFG! Check!
The list goes on. Steam even started offering refunds to downloaders. You know its bad when you start seeing refunds because of technical issues.
In response to the graphics settings issue Rockstar said “higher settings are provided for future generations of PCs with higher specifications than are currently widely available.”
Ummm what? Your telling me people with $3500+ rigs are not high end enough? These wonder PC’s of the future are supposedly so much better that the high end gaming rigs currently being used are reduced to low settings? Really?
