This year the internet highways have been clogged up with news of broken street dates. From Fable 2, to Animal Crossing, the probability of a street date being broken is now at 87.39% (not really, it’s actally at 56.87%.Ok, that one was also a lie).
Hit the jump to hear everything I’ve just said again, albeit in a slightly longer manner.
Yes, broken street dates seem to be all the rage nowadays. Whether staff are unaware of release dates, don’t care about them or just want to help their community is unknown, but what we do know is that breaking a street date can get companies in an awful lot of doo doo.
With the advent of the convenient store chain, 7-Eleven, now selling video games, the problem became even more ridiculous. More than ever before, people with no knowledge of video games and release dates were being taken advantage of left and right. Reports that games like Fallout 3, Gears of War 2 and others had broken street date, courtesy of 7-Eleven stores, was all the rage.
That’s why broken street dates and the slurpee lovers that break them pop in at number 52 on our Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2008.
