Resistance 2 is one of those titles that just can’t help but attract just as much love as it does hate. I, for one, loved it. Others, Lono for example, did not. Putting aside all the other reasons for contention, it was how Resistance 2 ended that had Resistance fans and haters taking to the forums to voice their predictions on the future of the series and their opinions on how the game ended.

Find out why the end of Resistance 2 made the list after the jump!

For those of you who (shame on you) have not finished Resistance 2 yet, here’s a quick rundown of how the game ends:

***SPOILER***

After you fry R2’s final boss (who is the easiest of all of them to kill for some reason), wasting a large amount of Chimera and generally being all you can be, Nathan Hale finally succumbs to his Chimeran side. The game ends with Hale staring up at the sky and Cappelli walking up and realizing Hale has finally turned.

Capelli shoots Nathan in the head. Blam, no more Resistance main character! A lot of gamers knew something like this was coming since the series had been playing up the whole “Nathan might turn evil” bit since day one. Of course, knowing “something” was going to happen doesn’t really prepare you for the real deal. More than a few gamers spit out their Doritos when they got to the end of Resistance 2. Still, I thought it was awesome how R2 ended. I think my exact words were “Oh snap!”

***END SPOILER***

Now, whether or not you like how R2 ended is pretty subjective. It does take some stones to end your game with the death of your main character. I think it was one of the very best endings of 2008 to be sure. If nothing else it gave fanboys and haters more fuel with which to do battle over why Resistance 2 kicked ass or sucked.

That’s why Resistance 2’s ending making gamers spit out their Doritos and giving us all one of the most memorable video game endings this year comes in at number 42 in Sarcastic Gamers Top 100 Moments of 2008!

Dude, dont you think that the part where you mention the main characters faith goes inside the spoiler box? Lol. I mean i’ve already beat the game but for people who haven’t you know. And yes it was pretty epic to end it that way.

its cool as long as they make shure the main character for the next game is very likable or just plain bad ass.

i for on would like to see the next game take place in europe, having the soilders fight there way to russia, the origin point for the chimara outbreak (and as a result the most heavly fortified and secret filled)

i must admit it was a bit of a shock.
i thought they were gonna just chicken out of killing him.
but they did, where will they go next?
cos they did ay it wasn’t just gonna be a trilogy but a …… saga….. yeah, thats the right word.
