Top 100 – #26 Home Finally Happens… Sort Of

26-2008

Home, it looks like Second Life but it’s way cleaner. Sony promised that Home would be ready to go in 2008. Well, they kind of made due, with an open beta. A world with $.99 couches and $.49 hoodies. Finally, more than a select few can have a chance to take Home for a spin, beta style!

The first thing you notice is that there are small groups huddled here and  there. Some are at the music station jamming out to the same 8 songs over and over again. The others are surrounding the 5 females in the game like Buzzards on a carcass. We call the latter the Homegirl Effect.

Apparently, the purpose of Home is to create a sense of community. Until they allow people to party up for all games and not just a few, Home will basically be a chat room. What a better way to help break the ice than allow people to bowl and dance. And dance. And dance. You can dance for hours and a variety of repetitive dance styles, like the running man.

Home’s going public and somehow mirroring High School in the 80’s, makes is number 26 on our top gaming moments of 2008.
