One of the most ambitious, incredibly hyped, and largely delivered games of 2008 had to be Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4. The game was both a showpiece for the Playstation 3, one of the last large-scale AAA system exclusives, and the end of the Solid Snake saga. The only thing people really seem to be missing from the game is a disc that says “Xbox 360″ on it.Despite the fact that Sony, Konami, and Hideo Kojima himself have said the game is a PS3 exclusive and not coming to the Xbox 360, there is a legion of die-hard fans… (more like fanboys) that are absolutely, 100% certain, without a doubt that the game will be coming to the Xbox 360. There is an equally certain group of Playstation fanboys that are sure it’s not leaving the PS3.
If you look around, you’ll find as many reasons why it both is and isn’t coming to the Xbox 360 as you’ll spend hours looking. The conspiracy theorists are out in force pointing out that Hideo Kojima saying he’d never do MGS4 for the 360 doesn’t keep someone else from doing it, and that Konami is a business and businesses like money, so of course it’ll come to the 360 while others point out how many DVDs it would take to hold the game (making the shortcomings of the DVD storage capacity and an MGS4 in-game crack at the 360’s smaller disc capacity) all the more funny.
It’s entirely possible that the entire energy spent by the fanboys on both sides of this debate is more energy than goes into the entire development of some games. It seems like such a waste to devote so much time and energy to something that ultimately doesn’t really matter. MGS4 is out now on the PS3 and if you’ve absolutely got to play it, there are ways to play it now. And if it ever does happen to come out on the 360, folks that have avoided it to that point will have one more chance to play a very impressive game.
The whole spectacle of the debate is the reason MGS4 coming/not coming to the Xbox 360 is one of Sarcastic Gamers Top Gaming Moments of 2008.

even when writing from a neutral stand-point Rothbart you still sound quite fan boy….ish
MGS4 dosen’t bother me to much i played it on my mates PS3 and it was ok, this may just be a result of m never having played the previous games but w/e
One thing I need to point out: The game didn’t make a crack at the 360’s lack of disc space on Shadow Moses Island. It was referencing the part of MGS on the PS1 where you swapped discs at that point in the area.
