Two great games have already been selected for potential Sarcastic Gamer GOTY. Farcry 2 and MGS4. This year, I have had my hands full trying to keep up with all the great games. So, narrowing it down to just one was difficult.

So, here is the Third Sarcastic Gamer GOTY Nominee, it’s a game where every choice you make,  good or evil, can have a incredible impact on the world. Find out our third nominee and why it makes our list for possible GOTY, after the jump.

This year has been chalk full of great titles. It has also been the year that EA stepped up and brought us not one, but two great new IP’s in Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge. We saw Gears of War get bigger, better and more badass with Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead left me with a new Multiplayer addiction.

However, there was only one game that had a distinct, and lasting impression on me. The more I thought about it, the clearer it became. Fallout 3 is Game of the Year potential and Sarcastic Gamer’s Third Nominee for Game of the Year.

While I have never played any of the previous Fallout games, I was really anticipating this game. From the time I saw the teaser trailer, there was something about this game that sparked my curiosity.  Being a huge Elder Scrolls fan, I was elated to hear that Bethesda was going to be making the true successor to the Fallout 2.

While Fallout 3 didn’t make any significant leaps over Bethesda’s Oblivion, it does several things incredibly well that left me with an experience that I will never forget.

Fallout 3 is simply breathtaking. From the moment you escape from Vault 101, you’re blinded by the Sun burning down on to the Capital Wasteland and it’s a sight to behold. Once your eyes adjust and the world comes into focus, you see the destroyed landscape, but I found it to be remarkably beautiful. Standing in the Capital Mall, in front of the Washington Monument, you feel like your really standing “there.” That “feeling” of being someplace like the Capital Wasteland and being fully immersed in the Fallout universe is one the many endearing qualities of Fallout 3. Any game that can provide any type of emotional response is rare these days and Fallout 3 nails it.

Fallout 3 is a fully open world where you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. How you play the game is up to you.  Good, Bad or neutral, there are benefits to all three which provides a replayability that is unparalleled in this generation of video games.
