Deadly Creatures to feature Hollywood voice talent

“I loved a woman who wasn’t clean.”

Those are the immortal words of Billy Bob Thornton’s unforgettable film character, Willie Stokes. “Bad Santa” is perhaps the best film ever to feature a drunken Santa who spews obscenities at children. If you have never seen it, I am fairly certain that TNT, or TBS will broadcast the film 20 billion times between now and the end of the year. Though, I suggest you purchase your own copy from Best Buy. The movie is so much better when the naughty words aren’t edited out.

How does this relate to “Deadly Creatures”? Find out after the jump.

THQ has announced that “Deadly Creatures,” which is being developed by Rainbow Studios exclusively for Nintendo’s Wii console, will feature the voice work of Billy Bob Thornton and “Speed” villain, Dennis Hopper. Both actors seem to think very highly of the game, with Thornton comparing it “watching a movie.”

“What surprised me about Deadly Creatures is how it looks…like watching a movie,” he said. “The scorpion and tarantula are like two actors meeting up for a gun fight.”

Destructoid has the official press release here.

“Deadly Creatures” is a third-person action game in which players must explore various environments as a tarantula and a scorpion. The pint-sized protagonists will also have to battle all sorts of enemies, including Gila monsters, lizards and a rather unfriendly snake. Barring a third delay, the game will be available in Feb. 2009.

Though I wait with cautious optimism, “Deadly Creatures” looks like a unique experience that Wii owners should be excited about. With upcoming games like “MadWorld,” “The House of the Dead: Overkill” and THQ’s aforementioned action title, it appears that third-party publishers and developers haven’t forgotten about Nintendo’s money-printing home console. Plus, it is always nice to see a game that doesn’t feature soldiers shooting aliens.

This announcement doesn’t increase my interest in “Deadly Creatures,” but it does prove that interactive entertainment is becoming more socially acceptable.

What are your thoughts? Are you itching to purchase “Deadly Creatures” or are you taking a wait-and-see approach?

it looks good, but not something I’m looking forward too, so we’ll see when I think about it when it comes out.
