Zombies, Avatars attack this week

If you’ve been living in a cave, or immersing yourself in a game… or immersing yourself in a game IN a cave… you might not be aware that several big things are happening in gaming this week.

First off, Survival-Horror sensation Left 4 Dead is infecting an Xbox or PC near you tomorrow.  I anticipate a Friends List stacked in this killer coop adventure.  There are games you rent and games you buy.  Having played this game for over a year now invarious forms and on both platforms, I can tell you with relative confidence that this game will thrill you.  Grab it guys.

Then on Wednesday, Xbox 360’s all over the world will get a new coat of paint with the New Xbox Experience.  With streaming HD movies, a new group system, and a ton of other new features coming with the modest 128mb NXE update, it certainly seems like we’re essentially getting a new console.  Speaking of new things, you’re probably gonna want to drop a hundie on a new hard drive to hold all of your ripped games and movie content.

On the Wii, Merv Griffin’s Crosswords gets a pretty decent port from its previous system home (paper).

PS3 fans will snag a few decent titles including Tombraider Underworld and Alone in the Dark: Inferno.

We’re in the waning moments of the game crush here people.  Relief is on the way.

After this week, only 4 games remain to be released this year for PS3 (Prince of Persia, Destroy All Humans, Sonic Unleashed, and Singstar ABBA!)

Personally I don’t have a lot of interest in the handful of Xbox 360 titles. (Winter Sports 2, Banjo Kazooie, Emergency Hospital, Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix, Destroy All Humans, Prince of Persia, The Tale of Despereaux, Rise of the Argonauts, Stoked)

Wii owners are by far not out of the woods yet… AFTER THIS WEEK, there are still more than 30 more shovelware games hitting, too numerous to mention. Let’s just say BIGFOOT is up against some stiff competition from Chrysler Classic Racing.

We’re almost in the clear folks.  Just one more big game stands between us and the holidays.  Who wants to bet we’re all complaining about having nothing to play within a month?
