“No, no NOOOOOO!”, I screamed upon not finding my favorite XBLA game available for download from the Xbox Live Marketplace, “Why would anyone do this?!”
However, you might be saying that last phrase in a slightly different manner. Less in a ‘why would they de-list Yaris‘ way and more in a ‘why are you boring me with this unimportant news’ kind of way.
Unimportant? UNIMPORTANT? Is this the kind of respect the good folks at Castwaway Entertainment get nowadays?
Yaris was unparalled in its genre, the quintessential racer, critically acclaimed in both reviews and sales. It is a loss, yes, but we must stand strong! Be brave fellow gamers and hit the jump, unless your uncontrollable sobbing prevents you.
I’m happy to admit that I still have the Eragon demo on my 360′s hard drive. As you may or may not remember, the Eragon demo was pulled from the Marketplace because…well, it just wasn’t very good, yet I’ve kept my copy, because if I delete it, I will never be able to download it again.
It’s the same thing with Yaris. It wasn’t that bad was it?
Ok, it was pretty bad. If Gears of War is a juicy steak, then Yaris is the rotting carcass of a limpet that’s been set on fire, crushed, set on fire again, then doused in liquid excrement before being placed in a bin, launched 10,000 feet into the sky, glued back together with pus, passed through an elephants digestive system then placed in a bucket of mercury.
Yet that doesn’t matter! Why do Microsoft feel the need to de-list games? While Microsoft haven’t actually confirmed the de-listing, the fact that its game page has also disappeared, pretty much confirms it. They haven’t run out of server space, so why not just stick it in a grimy corner of the marketplace and be done. One person likes it! Keep it for him!
What do you think? Should Microsoft de-list bad games, or should they be preserved for all to see? Sound off in the comments below.
