No amount of fan service could save the Mega Man movie trailer

Sweet lord. Someone actually made a “Mega Man” movie. Do not bother checking your calendar. It is not Friday. I have embedded the official trailer after the break. However, please allow me to prepare you for what you are about to see. Imagine the extinction of the human race. Now picture something 10 times worse than that. Not quite as bad as Rosie O’Donnell, but still pretty bad.

Senior citizens and children look away. Trailer in three, two, one…

Alright, so maybe I am being too hard on the film. It “was made by fans,” which leads me to believe that the budget was extremely limited. I could be wrong, but I hope director Eddie Lebron didn’t spend buckets of cash on those CG versions of Guts Man, Bomb Man and Cut Man. Granted that Mega Man costume does look pretty sweet.

“Mega Man” looks like a Sci Fi original film. You know, one that would air between “Mansquito” and “Supergator.” Though, I suspect that the fan-made flick will only be available on the Internet.  I haven’t been able to find a release date, but Lebron’s official site is packed with interesting information. For instance, he also directed “Ghostbusters: Generation,” which featured “Mega Man” star Jun Naito.

Though I have devoted an entire article to ripping his latest film, I have to give Lebron a pat on the back.  The guy seems passionate about making films.  I might bash a low-budget trailer, but I would never ridicule an individual’s pursuit of his/her dream.  Lebron, unlike some directors, seems uninterested in exploiting popular franchises.  He might lack Michael-Bay-sized budgets, but he appears to do the best he can with what he is provided. I guess you could call his “Mega Man” film adaptation a labor of love. Hopefully, he isn’t a fan of “Battletoads” or “Vectorman.” My head might explode if I saw an actor in a Pimple costume.

Hey…it’s not THAT bad, it looks like they spent a lot of time and effort on that. So what if it’s a little cheesy, it could be good. Maybe…

The music is good and megaman’s acting is OK actually, but yeah, theres some pretty DAYUM cheesey bits in there.

Look at some other fan made stuff, non profit stuff out there and you may begin to see this in a different light.

The best non profit film I have seen myself is Starwreck: in the Pirkining. Look it up it’s great.

I love stuff like this. Cheese rocks. Not as cool as the Internet Zombie Movie mind, but this still would get me watching!

  • greeneyedpsyko

It seemed like a joke at the first bit because the acting is so bad. Then it kinda seemed more believable. Not good though, but believable

I saw it on Screwattack over the weekend, and I enjoyed it. I mean, come on, it can’t be any worse than any of the other video game to movie tripe that we’ve seen before. I thought it was pretty good.

    1) Power Rangers isn’t low budget anymore. So this actually looks worse than a PR or Super Sentai episode.

    2) I think you guys are being too harsh. It’s a fan movie for crying out loud. You aren’t going to get hollywood level. It’s probably better than some Hollywood movies based on games (Street Fighter anyone?)
