Kick Ass Video: Left 4 Dead

November 12th, 2008 at 10:01 am · 11 Comments

Wanna see what you’re missing in the Left 4 Dead demo?  I’ve got the first 15 minutes of the No Mercy Campaign after the jump.

In case you live under a rock, Left 4 Dead let’s you live yout your zombie apocalypse fantasies as part of a four player co-op experience as you fight through four different scenarios or “movies” featuring different set pieces such as a urban landscape, desolate farm, or an overrun airport as you fight for your life against the zombie horde.

The game is frantic and if you don’t play together with your teammates, watch what you shoot at to avoid friendly fire and keep each other alive, you won’t stand a chance.  I dare you to try out the demo on Expert.

I dare you.

Here’s the first fifteen minutes.

Pretty bad ass right? Of course, but you already knew this and had your pre-order ready.

Was the video played on super duper easy or what? Do the zombies ever try to kill you? =p

@Necro This video was probably on easy or medium. On hard and Expert….You will not be blasing through it like that.

But I can’t wait to play the full game, I want me to play as some infected :D

      definitly on easy!!
i think the zobies just want to give a hug when you play on easy. the need to show it on expert, TANK!!

    • Ummm... Yeah says:

lol Lono I’ve beaten the demo on expert several times… with good friends and not without tons of continues. :) I blasted through normal without even getting downed. But honestly, I was considering waiting this game out ’til Christmas, but now, I’m pre-ordering it. I must have this game on the 17 or else… something bad will happen.

      @DeathRightz
The tank is, quite possibly, the most annoying zombie ever. I’ve discovered that the AI on expert is amazing, and the boss zombies were coordinating their attacks. I remember on one occasion that my entire team had been downed at least once, our health packs gone, and everyone living off borrowed time/degenerating health. As soon as we near the weapons table (near the end on this playthrough) the tank bust through the floor, smacking down one teammate. When we turned around to fire on it, a smoker dragged one guy away, while a hunter pounced on the other, leaving me to decide what to do. I smacked the hunter off the nearest team and blasted it with my shotgun. By the time I busted out the pistols and took down the smoker, the tank had finished off his target. I ran for the smoker’s victim, leaving the hunter’s to (unwillingly) distract the tank. By the time I got to my downed teammate across the way, I heard the boomer come and vomit on me. My screen blurry, I ran to the corner to stave off the horde, forgetting that the tank was only a little ways away. My pump action shotty only had 7 rounds from killing the hunter, not nearly enough to get through the horde. The last thing I saw was the tank tossing a chunk of concrete at my face. GAME OVER. I’ll be posting this in the forums, too.

I know you guys are really hyped for this game but the game play just seems very redundant to me. If Left4Dead outsells GOW2, I’ll buy you guys a 2 week supply of berry medley.

      Lol.
      Beaten Expert like… 20 times.
      Addicting & fun…

This game is amazing. My only gripe about it is that it is too easy; even on expert you can beat the levels without having any teammates die. Hopefully versus mode will help change that, with actual people playing as the boss zombies.

My team made it to the last room of the demo on expert but someone throw a molotov cocktail too close to themselves and killed half our group and of course me and the other guy got owned

    • Lono says:

Damn, who knew we had such uber gamers… Put that stuff on your resume!

      – Good communication skills
      – Beat Left 4 Dead’s demo on expert
      – Bragged about it in comments of a blog post
      – Cash handling skills

There you go guys, I’ve already done half the work for you…

    • Butterz says:

Yea it took me like 3 hours but I beat it on expert with some friends.
