Picture this: you’re crossing a barren wasteland with your Pip-Boy 3000, squinting at the horizon as you search for a derelict house which, you hope, contains the coffee stained piece of parchment that will lead you to the battered chest. Suddenly a mole rat approaches, eager to gnaw on your golden locks. You brandish a sledgehammer, intending to prematurely end the ratish mole’s life and continue on your way. Yet, there on a nearby hillock, another rabbid creature is looking you. It starts to charge. Fearing futile attempts to kill both ratties, you turn and flee…all the back to your house, where upon entering, you put in the Fallout 3 disc and start to play.
So, as you boot up the game, you decide that, hey, you might as well do a quest, since, well, that’s kind of what you do in Fallout 3.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! *Clunk*.
You’ve fallen off your chair because you don’t know where any quests are. Sure, you could use the in-game map if you’re old fashioned and moth ridden, but online Google Maps are what the young’uns are using nowadays.
Hark, what is that I hear? Where is said online Google Map? Why here, of course! Feel free to clickety click click click that link as much as you darn well wish to, unless you actually are old fashioned and moth ridden.
The great thing about this map is that anyone can contribute to it (and get the credit!) so it’s constantly evolving like some sort of mutated fish…or something. So, what have we learnt here today? If you aspire to be a bird soaring high over the capital waste land, love maps or just want some help with Fallout 3, then you can find key areas, quest objectives, Easter eggs and more, with the Capital Wasteland map.
I really hope we see more of these springing up for games. It certainly saves buying a strategy guide and it’s geographically fun!

Saw this map a couple days ago when I was looking for one, this map is better in my opinion.

yeah for maps! I rented this game for the weekend and it’s frustrating the crap out of me…maybe a map will help. But I doubt it.
@Waffle
That map is a lot more helpful, its less ‘busy’ if you know what I mean
@Jax
Surely this isnt the type of game to play over a weekend? You’ll barely scratch the surface.
I wanted to see if I liked it first
I always prefer to rent vs pay $60 when I’m unsure of a game.
Ah i see, well I hope you like it, it is the front runner for GOTY for me.
