Much to the chagrin of most of the eager Call of Duty fanboys, Treyarch was having all kinds of problems with their Beta. It wasn’t lag, matchmaking, crashes or anything like that. Nope. They were having the kinds of problems that they just shouldn’t have…
Their system for giving out invites is broken, leaving many long standing charlieoscardelta.com members that were promised Beta invites on day one, out in the cold. All the details, after the jump.
Apparently, the system works like this: those members of CharlieOscarDelta.com, the original community for Call of Duty 4, who were given beta invites during last year’s Call of Duty 4 Beta was supposed to merge their account with a newly created account on the CallofDuty.com website, or transfer the original account over. If you were successful, you would receive a badge to put onto an avatar, signifying that you were a VIP and would be given priority access to the Call of Duty: World at War beta that began on October 10, 2008.
Well… It worked for some, but not for all. On the CallofDuty.com forums there are a ton of threads from disgruntled fanboys, clamoring for their beta invite. The problem was so widespread that Treyarch had to post an official apology yesterday evening, with a Treyarch poster apologizing for a technical glitch that precluded the full distribution of Beta keys
Today, that apology was nowhere to be found on their forums. Perhaps that was because the problem was solved? Nope. How do I know? Because I still haven’t received my beta key.
I’ve had a CharlieOscarDelta.com account since the site’s inception last year in anticipation of the Call of Duty 4 beta. I migrated my account over about two weeks ago, didn’t get my VIP badge, despite the fact that people that migrated both before and after my account migration did. So, as indicated by the CallofDuty.com forums, I sent an email to the support@callofduty.com. It’s been three days and no response.
The forums are lit up with people that are having issues gettin their VIP badge and Beta invites, did you get your Beta key? Are you haveing issues with your account at CallofDuty.com? Let us know in the comments below.

I couldnt even transfer my account, they tell me the account never existed. I got into the CoD4 beta and have a copy of the email they sent me with my beta key, but the account never existed…
i still don’t understand why Beta’s aren’t accessiable via Xbox Live dashboard………
Really messed up. I joined callofduty.com during a couple of months ago and got my beta key friday evening. Good luck to everyone having problems.
I got mine through the GameStop pre-order. Never received anything from callofduty.com even though I was part of the last website and migrated as well.
I am enjoying the beta. It definitely has good things and sucky things but overall I like it.

I got one, though I wasn’t in the CoD4 beta, I joined roughly a month or two after I got CoD4 last Christmas.

I got a code from both callofduty.com and gamestop.

I couldn’t even migrate my account though. I tried ten times and it wouldn’t work. I have emailed Support@callofduty.com three times too and haven’t gotten a reply
I have also migrated my account and no beta key hopefully ill get it soon!
Could it be possible that they didn’t want to invite some people to the beta? I know it’s a crazy idea.

@Mehar Double check your code its easy to confuse some letters.
At least its not as bad as the LBP Beta. If it wasn’t for the French site it would be though.
I received my key around 4:30 pm PST yesterday. They key worked, and I was able to play the game without any difficulties.

I was a CharlieOscarDelta.com member from Day 1, I participated in all the missions (almost won a prize once) and immediately moved my account over to CallOfDuty.com when the new site launched…
So were all the Gamestop codes sent out this weekend or should I still be waiting patiently for mine to be sent to me?
When did you pre-order? I pre-ordered last Thursday and receive my code at Friday.
I went to my account on CallofDuty.com and the beta key wan in my account profile. The was no inbox message on the website, but I got an email a few hours after I found the beta key. I dont know how long it was just there before I found it.
I was in the COD4 beta, and migrated over my account. I remember it was not the smoothest thing to do, but it got done.

um, I got mine a couple days ago.
Beta plays almost exactly the same, but a little slower (good thing). I like driving the tank, and all the maps are awesome, especially “Makin”.

I migrated the day I got my account. I thought I didn’t get mine, but clicked a link on the home page (sites down, don’t remember) and there it was. No way in hell I would have known I had it if I hadn’t clicked that random link.
I did double check, I enter the code and it registers it has a beta code and takes me to the download page. I click download and I get a error that stops me from doing anything. Since my live expired it could be because of that but I am skeptical since I tried with one of the 48 hour codes as well. I guess I should pick up a gold this week and hope it works.
I registered at callofduty.com in late august 2 weeks later mignt get the badge till after i migrated yesterday again. not sure if ill get in.
I didn’t have a Charlie Oscar Delta, but my friend who signed up the night before sending keys got one, and the guy who jumped on callofduty.com at the word go (me) did not.
finally got my vip stuff sorted out yesterday. Still waiting…
