Shovelware: Wii Dig

Lots of big games are stealing most of the press from smaller titles right now, and such is the case with Nintendo’s newest first-party title.

“Shovelware seems to be a word that people very closely associate with our Wii brand,” said Nintendo’s Doris Filaneed.  “So we’ve decided to capitalize on that opportunity, with Wii Dig.”

Wii Dig, a game that has been in development since late September, uses the Wiimote’s motion sensitivity in a brand new way.  Through a sleeve attachment, the Wiimote can be attached to a realistic shovel accessory, and offers gamers the opportunity to dig.

“You never know what you’ll find under there,” says Filaneed.  “Usually its just dirt, but occasionally you’ll hit rock, or even dig up a worm or grub.”

The game is being aggressively marketed to outdoor blue collar workers around the world.

“Everyone likes to dig, and now you can do it in the comfort of your living room, without the filthy mess,” said another company representative.

The game boasts more than 3 unique environments, each offering about 45 square miles that players can manually excavate.

“We’re talking hundreds of hours of single-player digging action,” said Filaneed.
