What did I tell you about a price war brewing in the UK? The supermarket chain Sainsburys is joining in the fight with some utterly insane 360 and Wii price-cuts in what is probably a declaration of war against Morrisons, who’ve been raking in the cash from bargain-hunting gamers since they started selling their games for half-price. We’ve also got a pretty sweet Gears of War 2 pre-order deal lined up for your on-the-cheap enjoyment.
Oh, and codinthepocket has come across yet more UK bargains. It’s all waiting for you after the break.
Pre-ordered Gears 2 yet? If not, why not? Well the folks over at HardcoreChristianGamer.com have a great pre-order deal for you. Skip on over to Game HQ and you can pre-order it for $54.99 (5 bucks off, people). Plus, enter the coupon code “HCGEARS” (that’s HC for Hardcore Christian Gamer, friend of SG and Game HQ associate) when pre-ordering and you’ll be able to get 50% off of any used game you like from Game HQ’s stock. Fingers crossed somebody’s traded in Rock Band then, as that could be some serious money saved if you take advantage of this offer!
Getting Gears 2 on the cheap, and half-price on everything used? Bargain! Of course, you can still save even if you’re not buying Gears: enter the coupon code “HCGAMER” at checkout to get 10% off of any used games from Game HQ’s stock. Lovely.
Over here in the UK, where the SG Bargain Hunter seems to be an awful lot (he likes the fish and chips, apparently), Sainsburys is joining the supermarket price war in what must be a bid to clear their stockroom of mountains of unsold gaming merchandise.
The thing is, they’re not following Morrisons’ lead and cutting the cost of their games: they’re going all the way up to consoles, and are offering the 360’s SKUs and the Wii for next-to-nothing (relatively speaking).
From the 3rd of October (today, if it’s published then, otherwise it might be yesterday) Sainburys will sell you a Nintendo Wii for £150; a full 30 quid off of the full price. You can even pick up a 60GB Xbox 360 for £140 (£30 off) and a 360 Arcade model for a shade under £100 (again, £30 off). You could almost say their prices are crazy! (Doc, I’m sorry; the opportunity was too good to miss.)
Naturally, you’ll be looking for some ace games to go with that new cheap console. Well, we thought of that. Page two’s got a bunch of disc-based deals for you to take advantage of. Hurrah for being tight-fisted!

Great work
It’s getting harder and harder for me to justify buying my 360 at what I thought was a “great deal” with the 60gb one this cheap.
