<this week’s weekly wonder can be found after the jump.mssgID2857//terminated>

This week’s question is simple: what was the first game you completed? Have you completed all your games or are you always moving on to the latest releases? Do you find that beating the game is enough or do you keep playing until you find all hidden items etc. and get 100% completion?

Just put your answers in the comment box below and if you have an idea for a question, don’t hesitate to email me at eoco [AT] sarcasticgamer [DOT] com.

I think it was Super Mario Bros. 2 on the GBA. Does that ever bring back the memories…

I’m always jumping from game to game and then end up completing games at a later date. I have a pretty short attention span and get bored quickly. The first game i completed was Mario 64 back when the N64 was just released, but i never got to meet yoshi on the roof, at least not on my save game =).

i beat legend of zelda as my first game, but i didn’t get all the poes and stuff. But now i have beat it like 4 times and it is still as good as it used to be. it just never gets old.

oh sorry i mean ocarina of time .

    • I’ve played tons of games before hand, but the first game I ever played to completion was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time

I know the first game I beat was pokemon gold. I was the first game I really put time into and beating the Eliet Four was such an accomplishment.

Sonic The Hedgehog, and I felt really pleased about it too as it had taken *ages*.

Have you completed all your games or are you always moving on to the latest releases?
These days I rarely complete a game unless I really want to see the ending; I don’t have the patience for ridiculously over-the-top final stages.

Do you find that beating the game is enough or do you keep playing until you find all hidden items etc. and get 100% completion?
I used to try and get 100% completion, I think the first game I gave up on that with was FFX as I found the alternative boss fights too difficult – these days games have overdone it with options and don’t make it worth either finding all the items or collecting all the achievements. Back in the days of Sonic we were happy just hitting all of the rings…

Super Mario 64! Best game evar by the way. It was my birthday when I finished it, I had some friends over and we were ust about to finish it, the last cutscene had initiated and Peach was inviting me to a tea party. But my older sister (5 years older) wanted us to come eat pizza, so she turned off the N64 in the middle of the last cutscene! I had to come back later and refinish the game. It sucked. But I love the game!

sonic adventure 2 on the gamecube which as a game that i actually loved which may seem weird to most hardcore sonic fans but i loved that game i thought it was the shit.

i never gto all the hidden things but the game was just so fun

ermm.. probably Goldeneye (N64). Love that game.

And i rarely ever try and find everything in the game – my attention span is short, and there’s always new games coming out lol

      Super Mario Bros’ 2.
      Took me forever. xD

    • The first game I completed was more than likely either Pokemon Blue, Final Fantasy VII, or Mega Man X4.

I try to do everything in a game before I move on to another one.

    • Deschain says:

First to completion was the original Zork, a text based adventure game, back around 1986 or 1987. These days I usually play games to completion, but there are some that I just don’t get into that I don’t complete. But I used to be a 100% type of player (all the secrets in Doom, Doom 2, etc.) but now I frequently move on after completing the story.

I think the first time I actually finished a game was when I played through Sly 3, on the PS2. When I was younger, I’d always get to a certain point, and get stuck, and when I did get stuck, I’d usually just move on to a different game. Now I try to finish they games I buy, always, and if the game is really fun, I’d play through it again after a short break to get the extra stuff. For example I’m finally playing through the R:FoM campaign again to get the extra weapons and achievements.

    • PayneTrainSG says:

Super Mario World for the SNES. After that it wasn’t until Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy that I beat a game. After which I beat SM64, SMSunshine, ad Jak II/III. I’ll always try to/will beat a single player campaign w/o the bells and whistles of side missions.

    • SolarFlare says:

First completed game was Final Fantasy for the NES. Before that I would play until I got a new game, now I play until I finish, usually with two or three games as an option when I want to play. It used to be I would play just to beat it, and now I try to get everything, that started with Dino Crisis for the PS.

    • ThomasJay says:

      Adventure on the Atari 2600.

      What? I’m old.

    • Mikalov1 says:

Mine was rugrats studio tours on Ps1.

    • A Rabid Moose says:

Real video game? Star wars: Rouge Squadron.

    • Strandli says:

I’ve completed the original Donkey Kong, then I completed Tetris, I didn’t think there was a kill screen in Tetris, but everything went black, and so did the light and the computer went off… Now THAT’S a kill screen!

But seriously, I can’t remember, I only played the hard games in my childhood, without knowing it. Damn Rayman 1 is a hard game, and I am currently trying it again.

But I think the Crash Bandicoot franchise were the only games I completed, I never got tired of them.

    • JustinSane80 says:

Revolution X for the Sega Saturn. That’s right, the Aerosmith game.

      …maybe I shouldn’t have admitted that…

    • DoomHammer says:

probably one of the super nintendo mario games. my fave games that i completed are the golden sun games i can just go back and complete them multiple times without any boredom :)

    • Squarehead says:

      Crash Bandicoot 3.

I try to complete the game, but I usually get bored, then after a while go back an complete them, like I only today beat Gear’s campaign in readiness for Gears II.

I don’t even try for 100%, mostly because it’s not worth it half the time.

    • Intense Degree says:

Probably a game called “The Prize” on my old Amstrad cpc 6128! To be fair it was some time ago now…
