And we thought it would be next year! EA’s just dropped a nice wee email into my inbox letting me know that Rock Band 2 will be hitting Europe in 360 form this November, and being the nice guy that I am, I figured I’d share this info with you.

Thing is, if you’ve got a PS3, how long are you going to have to wait? Hit the jump for more.

Just to reiterate again, Rock Band 2 will not be ‘doing a Rock Band’, with the term today meaning that it wont be horrendously delayed in territories outside of the US. This is different from yesterday’s use of the term ‘doing a Rock Band‘, so keep up at the back there. As European readers will remember it took what felt like an eon and a half for the first game in Harmonix’s newest musical baby to hit this side of the Atlantic.

Nope, instead, Rock Band 2 will become available to European 360 owners in November. November the 14th, to be exact, not too far off of the US release date at all. If you’re in the UK, you’ve got one more week to wait (the 21st, if you do the math) and while it’s a wait it’s not too much to bear. In less than a month you’ll have your mitts on the game and you can rub it in the face of PS3 owners who’ll probably never, ever get to play it.

As for peripherals, Rock Band 2’s quieter, pressure-sensitive, wireless, cymbal-compatible drums (that’s a lotta adjectives) and other new instruments – y’know, guitars and that – will be available in December on their own. Which means that unless you’ve got the first game already, there’s no point in going out and buying the game on its own, as you’ll have no instruments to play with unless you opt for the original’s Band in a Box. But what would be the point in that with fancy new instruments appearing on shelves just a few weeks later?

As for the PS3 and the Wii, there’s still no word on a release date for the game or for new instruments so we can assume there’s some swapping of cash going on between EA and Microsoft (some quick research confirms this to be pretty much true) but you can probably expect it in the early months of next year.

Oh well. Enjoy your Rock Band 2 next month, 360 owners. Just spare a thought for me, maybe invite me over some time. I wont make a single Red Ring joke, promise.
