That was fun. Ok…to video games. Parents are to blame for kids not getting up and doing their homework or playing sports or many other things. Schools and State policies are to blame for a lot of the Educational lapses that have occurred, that does not mean I want it federalized as Obama wants. I mean we all know how well the government runs things. Look at how well the DMV and Amtrak work.

The “lefties” have always disliked video games. Blaming everything from teen violence to “Global Warming” (oh wait its not called that anymore…what is it now????) Oh yeah, Global Climate Change. They were a little wrong about that one too. I have been praying for Global warming for the last couple months now, I’m frik’n freezing.

Back to Video Games. I do find it rather funny that the “lefties” are against people playing video games, but yet still advertise in them. Isn’t that like riding two horses? Eventually along comes a tree. But everyone here knows “lefties” are good at riding two horses. I voted for it, before I voted against it, or vice-versa. I’m for supporting the troop, but giving them the support and aid they need…nope.

In closing…yes it a contradiction, but no it’s not unexpected.

The point the Senator from IL was making, was to make sure that we are not allowing our children to become media drones for the rest of their lives. Start guiding your children to become more informed and realize that there is something bigger than playing Burnout. I see nothing wrong with trying to get the attention of gamers to remind them to vote on Nov. 4th.

Yes I understand that, but both democracy and commnunsim only work on paper, they are fairly equal in terms of fallibilty. Both are idealistc that you work towards, niether are inherently evil. And the key reason communism usually fails is Communists try to run a captialist society…and the leaders get a lil power hungry in the process.

The reason Obama used a Wiimote had everything to do with identification of the video game tool de jour. If he had shown a 360 pad I could pretty much bet at least 50% of American adults wouldn’t know if it belonged to a 360 or PS3 (or a PC) let alone care. The Wiimote on the other hand is the one far more likely to have made it into a parent’s hand – and the advertising was aimed squarely at adults *not* young adult voters; it was a way of mildly chiding society for being lazy – many adults would have seen it and though “yes, those damn kids should put down those video games and vote. I’ll go and do it now”.

Or at least, that’s the advertising theory.

And no I don’t think it’s a contradiction to advertise in a game – that’s just another billboard.

I think its so special that he can buy the election and no one cares. Why doesn’t Obama spread some of that 600million in campaign money around, then we wouldn’t need to increase taxes… Wait a second… That makes to much sense to do.

Your talking about theory, yes in theory or on paper communism and socialism seem OK, but in real life they never work and only lead to oppression and depression.

In fact on paper a monarchy is actually the most efficiant form of government, but once again due to human nature they never work.

He doesn’t say video games are bad, or that he doesn’t like them, the main message is “We’re going to have to change our attitudes. We’re going to have to parent better” – removing TV and video games from the parenting equation is a good step in that direction.

I completely agree with it. We have to change the attitude of all the parents that believe popular media is an appropriate parenting tool.

Please explain to me how you get your “He’s going to ban video games” mentality out of the above quote, because to me it sounds like a man pointing out the exact reasons behind why the children in this country have fallen extremely far behind other countries in their level of education. He’s not saying that TV and video games are completely to blame for the kids in this country being so stupid, but they sure as heck don’t help.

The USSR is a poor example of communism as it had severe tyrannical overtones. Infact, more often then not, when people describe a utopia, its more or less a fusion of communism and democratic ideals….so this stigma that all things communist are bad is a terrible issue and simply not true. Just have to avoid the whole corruption thing of the beauracracy…(so I cant spell, sue me)

You’re right facts are facts. and the fact is McCain has run a much more negative campaign than Obama by percentages. Almost 20% more since you’re looking for facts. Yes Obama has spent more money on negative ads but that’s because he’s spent more on ads in general.

The FACT is almost 75% of McCain’s ads have been negative. That right there says a lot about his campaign choices. You could also see it for yourself in all the debates, McCain spent most of his time attacking Obama’s plans instead of promoting his own.

And fyi, I’m actually voting republican for most other state and local offices so I’d really appreciate if you tried to wrap your mind around the fact that I might actually be a well informed voter that actually thinks Obama is a better choice despite usually voting republican.

Not really sure where you’re getting your poll numbers from or if MSM media has gotten to you, but almost all election predictions show Obama winning in a landslide. He has a 96% chance of winning to be exact.
