No known surviving cookies

Well… I only skimmed over my invitation to the NoKnownSurvivors.com event and saw that lunch would be provided. Of course, I was in. I mean, do I look like I skip meals? Don’t answer that!

It was only later that I learned it was an EA media event. So free food… Dead Space… and me… What a combo!

Find out how much food was left by the first hour after the jump, along with a little video game talk…

Living in New York, you would think I would have the streets down or the ability to find parking on a whim. I was wrong… and I was hungry.

The event was held at Deep Focus, the PR group handling public relations for the launch of Noknownsurvivors.com and I was silently greeted by the receptionist. Why? Because the event already started and behind the doors were about 12 other people listening to a presentation. 12 people? Hold on for a second… that last thing I went to that involved developers was at PAX. I wasn’t ready. LONO! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO HAVE QUESTIONS READY??? So as quickly as I could… I jotted a few down on the paper that was given to me, with a pen that I borrowed from the secretary.

Around the table was Kotaku, CNet, Dital Battle, PSFK, AOL Daily Gamer, CHUD, FEARS Mag, Dread Central, Fangoria, and Destructoid. (I wonder if I stuck out like a sore thumb?)

Brushing my embarrassed look aside, I ventured over to the lunch table and grabbed two mystery sandwiches and about… 8 cookies, and 2 Cokes.

With a face full of food, I found out the real reason why I was here. Surrounded in speakers, and a bright screen 12 feet in front of me, was the walk through of Noknownsurvivors.com – a web based game that explores the side stories of this year’s hyped cross platform game Dead Space.

If you haven’t heard of Dead Space then you should crawl out from the rock you have been living in and open up a few gaming magazines. It is EA’s first real attempt at creating a horror game, and from the looks of it… it is going to be a huge bloody, gory, and scifi-ish hit.

While the original game has you as the lone survivor of attack on a mining ship in the middle of space, this is just one story. EA has managed to take the story line to not just a video game, but to the comic books and the small screen (a DVD release). Since there are so many stories to tell… Noknownsurvivors.com was created.

The full breakdown along with audio interviews, on page 2.
