This Past weekend at E 4 All, there really was only one reason to go.

Gears of War 2 HORDE MODE !!

I was instantly excited when I heard it was going to playable at E 4 All, I mean who doesn’t like the idea of 5 player co-op against 50 waves of the Locust Horde. No brainer.

Check out why Horde mode left me wanting more, with video, after the jump.

First, let me give you a quick idea of what Horde mode is all about. The Gears of War 2 new cooperative mode called the Horde Mode is 5 player co-op, where you and 4 friends take on 50 waves of enemies. After each wave you complete, you get a score and some time to get more ammo and get into position for the next wave.

Each successive wave gets much harder. Wave 1 starts with just Wretches and regular Locust Drones. By wave 3 you start seeing the more Badass enemies, like Theron Guards,  Regular Boomers and the new enemies called Tickers( sort of like the wretches, but with more boom boom). Once you reach wave 6 or 7 you start to see the new types of Boomers – the Butchers ( with giant Cleavers), The Maulers ( with a swinging mace)  and the new enemy the Kantus, which are a monk-like guy that bring his fallen brethren back to life if you haven’t blown them to smithereens. (Tip: when you see these guys take them out first).

By level 10 you’ll get to face the new Bloodmount and Holy Sh*t are these guys crazy. After you complete level 10 it starts over again with wretches and drones, only this time the have more health or do more damage. Every ten you complete it adds a modifier to the mix.  Check this out for a full list of new enemies, weapons and characters.

That being said, here’s my take on Horde Mode.
