Gamers have long suspected that the price tag on the 120GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 would be coming down. At $149.99 (US) the upgrade costs more per gigabyte than any other common form of storage on the planet. Today, those suspicions were confirmed.
“We understand that many people are uncomfortable paying almost as much for their hard drive as they do for a brand new system,” said company spokesman Gerri Deipokets. “So, we’re very happy to announce an impressive price cut to make it easier for everyone to afford to expand their Xbox 360 gaming system.”
Effective immediately, the price of the official Xbox 360 120GB hard drive has been reduced to $148.99.
“We’re beefing up production of the drives in hopes of keeping up with the enormous demand that we anticipate as the word reaches our consumers that we’re dedicated to keeping gaming affordable for 360 owners,” said Deipokets.
Gamers are greeting the news with fanfare and revelry.
“I keep having to delete things off of my 20 GB drive, and it was getting really annoying,” said Johnny Knoekache of Seattle. “I always said I wouldn’t pay a dime over $148.99 for the bigger drive, and now I don’t have to.”
Sony reacted to the news by dropping the price of the PS3 by 50 cents.
“We have to do what we have to do to stay competitive,” said the official press release.

I LOL’D
Doc, you’ve gone and self-referenced your own commerical.
It’s not funny now.
@Yamster
Awesome! I did it! I stopped the trend!
Gerri Deipokets and Johnny Knoekache…wow, man. That’s almost rim-shot worthy.
Ba-Dum-Tish.
I actually think the self-reference revived the meme, not destroyed it. To be honest I had forgotten about “Their prices are crazy” until right now, and the fact that Doc was the one who did it just makes it funnier.
I thought the same thing, that the price drop was insignificant, since it STILL costs more per gig than anything out there.
it seemed believable up to the ?We have to do what we have to do to stay competitive,? comment. lol
