With my available gaming time being inversely proportional to my age, I’ve grown more and more selective over what I’m willing to spend my time playing. As such, I’ve noticed a continuing trend of “blockbuster” games that I happily let slip by with virtually no remorse… the holiday season is generally when this phenomenon peaks, so I thought I’d share my list of “Could give a sh*t” games. Yes, I know right now that I’ll tick people off with this list because I won’t care about <insert game you’ve been waiting years for> but tough, this is my article, my opinion, and I know good and well you’ll hate the games I’m looking forward to just to spite me! LOL!
Check out my list after the jump…
Fable II - I’ll be clear, I’m not an RPG player, but listening to Peter Molyneux hype every game he works on, only to be followed by reviews/complaints stating how his current game didn’t live up to the hype is pretty much the double-whammy kiss of death as far as I’m concerned. He’s got talent and has put out some decent games in the past, but I keep getting the feeling his desperation to unequivocally move beyond his previous creations is his Achilles Heel.
Fallout 3 - Hey, you got your RPG in my FPS! No, you got your FPS in my RPG! Whatever… as someone only marginally interested in console-based FPS control schemes and not at all interested in RPGs, this sounds like one to safely sit by and ignore while console FPS and RPG fans have a blast. I’ve got nothing bad to say directly about the game other than it’s not targeted at me and as an avid PS3 owner, thanks Bethesda for not planning to bring out PS3 DLC for the game. I’ll support your decision by NOT buying your game (we’ll ignore the fact that I wouldn’t buy it even if they were supporting the PS3 better.)
Dead Space -I don’t… like… scary… games. Suspenseful? Sure… jump out and scare you? Nope. I game to relax… to be entertained. If I wanted stress, I’d just stay at work longer throughout the week. I can appreciate that Dead Space is looking to be a fine game, but I just can’t bring myself to remotely be excited for this game.
SOCOM: Confrontation -Surprise! It’s a PS3 exclusive that I’m not excited about. Seriously though, it’s the dependence on teamwork that I think puts the final nail in the SOCOM coffin for me. I’m not a naturally “social” gamer. I love that Warhawk supports teamwork and the lone wolf out to better his team. I didn’t get that vibe at all when checking out SOCOM: Confrontation. I think the game is geared toward more hardcore tactical shooter fans than me (and that’s fine), I’m going to take a pass on this one as well.
