Halo 3 Recon trailer

October 9th, 2008 at 1:16 am · 27 Comments

Well, finally.  Something substantial from Bungie.  Looks like we’ve got a brand new campaign with a new hero and a brand new game that’s tied to the Haloverse. Halo Jesus! Praise be it’s name!

When is it coming out?  Check out the trailer for yourself, after the jump.

I’ve got to say, this looks pretty cool.  Judge for yourself:

Fall 2009. My only question is whether or not I’ll be able to dual wield that silenced SMG.

    • Edthefreak says:

Haha, it WAS an ODST game by the looks of it. Silenced SMG? Halo’s crack at tacticalness of GRAW and Vegas?

    • A Rabid Moose says:

      But…. ….it didn’t tell you anything…

    • stupidpower says:

Ummm, commander 121, Its orbital drop SHOCK troopers. Go read up first, please.

Oh, and lono, there aint silenced SMGs in halo 3.
They are on H2 vista. eeekkkk.

    • Auriscope says:

I would cry myself to sleep if that was ingame footage.

    • NuclearNinja1429 says:

Awesome but it looks like we got some time to wait and is that a disc or DLC.

And it’s kinda like Halo Eagle Eye.

    • Parodox says:

      @stupidpower
Ummmm, did you not see the silenced SMG the ODST was holding?

    • stupidpower says:

      @paradox
Oh, sorry, I saw the low res version from bungie.net. Looked like a battle rifle.

    • Artemas says:

YAY, ODSTs!! If our money is still worth anything by fall 2009 this might be something good.

    • TJ says:

Wow thats pretty awesome. I am interested to see as more details come out.

    • Ummm... Yeah says:

Ya, its pretty badass. It would be nice if Lono and the SGP crew would admit that they were WRONG when it came to Bungie’s big announcement. It wasn’t the title update, guys. It was this. But maybe it’s on the forums somewhere. I don’t know, but I’m not sure if the ODST is the new hero or just another one of them. Also, this seems like an expansion, but at the same time a prequel, you know how the ODST’s and marines were on Earth when Master Chief got there? It’d make sense if it were a standalone disc, but with Halo 3 in the title, it could be DLC. Keep your eyes on bungie.net for more info.

    • Lono says:

What exactly were we wrong about?

    • Archivist777 says:

ooh, yay, this looks very promising! I wonder if the new hero will be someone we might have read about in the books or if it’s someone completely new to the Halo universe.

    • HeavenlyYeti says:

it is not DLC. Microsoft says that it will be on a standalone disc. I think Bungie saw this coming, though.
“Halo 3 is the end of this story arc.”
So, no Halo 4 yet, but who says they can’t pull a Half-Life? ;)

    • Animathias says:

If they released *this* at the end of that countdown instead of the stripped down version, there wouldn’t have been much to make fun of them about.

We weren’t wrong, they hyped up a teaser trailer to no end, then they release this one out of nowhere. This should have been at the end of that countdown.

    • Lono says:

Again, what were we wrong about?

Disappointment in a teaser trailer is wrong, or something?

    • Sarge says:

Lono, I think the “wrong” part is reference to the podcast where you guys made a joke of the teaser just being the title update. I think some think that was all serious.

This game looks promising so far. I just wish it wasn’t a year away. Next fall will be full again with this, COD6 and whatever other goodness comes out.

And why is it everywhere this news shows up, there is someone saying “I called it”? Half the internet “called it”.

    • Archivist777 says:

If it was a joke in the podcast, then I’ll admit I didn’t get it either. I thought they were being serious when they said the Bungie countdown was just for the title update and that the Halo fanboys were probably disappointed. I remember being confused at the time, because I thought the countdown was for the teaser trailer of this new game.

    • Lono says:

We were joking that the countdown only led up to the title update, but we were “in reality” disappointed in the teaser trailer.

    • HeavenlyYeti says:

are you… Disappointed in THIS trailer? ;)

    • Lono says:

      No… geez… the OTHER teaser trailer…

    • HeavenlyYeti says:

      LOL

      Just messing with you.

    • NarkJoe says:

I think that this disagreement has gone on too long.

This game looks tight. I’m very excited.

    • NoneOfYourBusiness says:

Is it a game or a standalone expansion? Like will it have all of Halo 3 on it + or is it a prelude to it….and only a prelude to it, with online support.

    • ObviouslyNot says:

      @NoneOfYourBusiness: Standalone Expansion

      THAT LOOKS SO FRICKIN’ AWESOME!!!
