World At War Beta Coming In October

For many gamers that purchased CoD4, the Beta was what introduced them to the game that previously had little fanfare and made ravenous fanboys out of us all… Whether you were playing it, or hearing how awesome it was from someone else, the demo was great publicity. For me the game came out of left field, I was never expecting it to be the power house that it is.

Now we’ll get the chance to see if World At War will rise to the occasion. Beta info, after the jump!

For those that don’t know, Call of Duty: World At War is the next installment of the series that has huge shoes to fill after Modern Warfare. It received a lot of criticism for returning to the World War 2 shooter genre that the market has been flooded with over the past few years.

The game will be adding a new features that the last one lacked, and that’s coop play and Kiefer Sutherland. Seriously, whose more bad ass than the Kiefer?

The true test of the game will be the multiplayer that the chosen few will get to play in October.

“We are excited to share a sneak peak of Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer with the community,” says Mark Lamia, Treyarch Studio Head. “The team has worked hard to build upon the great history and foundation of Call of Duty multiplayer and we can’t wait to go online to ramp up for our November launch.”

If you want to get in on the Xbox 360 multiplayer beta, you can register at www.callofduty.com or pre-order the game at GameStops in North America. There will also be a PC beta, but no details were given on how to join.

Finally, after all of the hype we can finally see if Treyarch’s creation will float or sink. I personally can’t wait to see what a perk is in the 1940’s. Maybe one is a tattoo of a naked lady on your arm, or a penicillin shot.

Good luck Treyarch, good luck.

WW2 stuff just not appealing as contemporary warfare ie weapons and stuff. Yeah I understand what your trying to do but why are you floging a dead horse?

Most enjoyable time on COD3 was the tank mission, I finished it in a heartbeat but replayed it for the thrill of firing the big gun.

Personal opinion should have continued in the vein of contemopary conflicts rather than past events.
