Take-Two shakes off EA pursuit

Nothing is more annoying than someone who won’t take no for answer. When I hear someone say “No” to an idea, I usually move on, or at least try to think of a way to really persuade the person it’s a good idea. I don’t follow them around for seven months repeating the same thing over and over again like a 3 year old begging for candy. Well it seems EA has finally realized that Take-Two is not going to give them a GTA treat and so they have (finally) left to find another company to beg candy from.

More about EA giving up on the Take-Two takeover after the jump!

Two things happened after Electronic Arts announced they were walking away from discussions to acquire Take-Two Interactive: GTA fans rejoiced and T-2 stock dropped.

Now I have to admit I was glad to hear that EA was not going to be GTA’s new landlord if only because EA scares me worse than a zombie Rothbart holding a RRoD 360 singing “Girls just want to have fun.” Sure EA has promised to turn their reputation around and they may very well do so over the next few years, but I sure as heck am not willing to bet a proven powerhouse franchise on that small glimmer of hope. I know I’m not the only GTA fan who is glad EA has gone trick or treating elsewhere.

In the weeks surrounding the release of GTAIV T-2 stock was trading at almost $28 but has since fallen to around $15 since news of EA’s withdrawal. Now that sounds kind of bad but it seems pretty obvious that share price had been temporarily inflated and now things are going to regain some semblance of equilibrium.

All gamers need to know is that Take-Two, and by extension the GTA franchise, is safe and that the future looks good for more great GTA titles…that is of course assuming GTA creators Sam and Dan Houser stay onboard when their contract is up in February. Shessh, there’s always something…

Good I love GTA and as much as I would love a new one every year. It would definattly get old afterawhile. I mean I usually get GTA play the hell out of it the first month or 2 and then every so often go back for more. I just think that 2 much of a good thing doesn’t always equal a better thing.

    • Hooray for EA not bugging the hell out of T2 anymore, but boo to their stock going down. That seems to be the recent trend, however, so I’m not sure how far to look into a stock plummet at the moment. It’s happening to everyone!

whata relief, imagine what could have happened to the next GTAs we could have seen every grand theft auto released every year which would have been bad and rushed and broken, the same city and same character rereleased but with the name of GTA V.

and even worse EA always like to whore out every game by releasing it on every platform they can whatever they are last-gen or curret-gen and that reduces the quality of a title
