Sarcastic Gamer Weekly Wonder #9

September 6th, 2008 · 22 Comments

Hello and welcome to the ninth edition of our new feature here on Sarcastic Gamer cleverly entitled ‘Sarcastic Gamer’s Weekly Wonder’. Each week I’ll be posting an interesting question about video games, so interesting in fact, that you’ll want to answer it. And answer it you shall - all you have to do is post your reply to the question in the comment box. Simple.

Questions are afoot, after the jump.

This week we want to know what classic game, or game series, you’d like to see remade. Which of the 3 current gen consoles would be best suited for your remake, and what improvements would you like to see?

Post your answer in the comments box, and, if you have an idea for a question, don’t hesitate to email me at eoco [AT] sarcasticgamer [DOT] com.

i think the wii for sure most needs to be remade. i think a wii with hd graphics and the contolers with built in wii motion plus would really allow nintendo to target the hardcore audience better. i just think that the xbox 360 and the ps3 really have themseleves grounded in their own market niche

Rolo to the Rescue, for the Sega Megadrive.
I think it should be remade with better graphics for the Wii or preferably XBLA.

It would have to be Okami, it may have a wii port, but a full scale redo on PS3 would be epic, fans of the original would make it sell like crazy!

Future Cop LAPD. That game was fantastic and I think a remake would be really good.

Hexen. We’ve seen remakes of Doom (Doom III) and Castle Wolfenstein (RtCW) so it’s time for a Hexen remake. Hexen was one of the first FPS’s (FPM?) to take melee combat seriously. The hub idea (introduced in Hexen 2 if I recall correctly) was also interesting. Generally I’d like to see this on the PC, but a port to the X-Box 360 would be easy.

      i dont know why…
but i would like to see metal gear solid remade
first one was the better than 2 or 3 (close with 4) and going back to shadow moses in mgs4 was really cool.
so my vote is for metal gear solid 1

      back at ya!

I recon they should bring crash back to the PS3. It should be a remake but should be downloadable from the PSN

i agree with raptorcut about metal gear solid. i’d LOVE to see that remade.

also i’d love to see Goldeneye (N64) remade, as it was one of my old favorite shooters. It was so big over here I’m sure it’d have no problem selling. Probably best on 360 or ps3 as most fps’s are.
      :)

hey?! what happened to Final Fantasy 7 remake?! :p but yeah.. FF7…
I don’t want to see a Crash remake, unless naughty dog is behind it, all crash games after ND was bad…
      Same goes for Spyro.

I definately agree with rocketman. Crash was one of my favorite Platformers and my first game. Ever! Sony definately needs to bring back this awesome series.

I would love a reboot of The Getaway come back to PS3, I;m not saying that Sony didn’t do the right thing by canceling The getaway and Eight Days. (Cough-Dick move-Cough) but make it original for those who never played the first two! A remake of the first two Elder scrolls wouldn’t be bad also

      Monkey Island. Long live SCUMM!

I reckon a new star wars battlefront game for 360 and ps3 would be fun hell i spent a lotta time on the ps2 versions

    • 14 Krelith // Sep 7, 2008 at 9:31 am

I could state the obvious here and go with FF7…

OR I can say my pick (less obvious pick anyway), would be to remake Syndicate. C’mon, that game ruled! Bring it out on XBLA and PSN then get on with a brand new next-gen sequel.

parasite eve on the ps3 we can do without the turn based aspect of it but the story and characters where great. not to mention killer powers.

They should remake space invaders!!!! Oh wait, they already remade it on PS2 and… oh wait, it was crap

    • 17 FrostedStorm // Sep 7, 2008 at 3:54 pm

I always wish they’d make a remake off FF7 for PS3 but it always makes me think, is it really worth it? I can still go back and play the game now, it never gets old, I must have played it around 10 times through. I always love good graphics, but this game was so good it didn’t need the graphics to keep me going back. I wouldn’t want to see a classic ruined.

Would also love to see a remake of MGS1 like some others have said.

Might be interesting to see the original Oddworld games with nice graphics and all 3D as well.

B-17 Bomber, originally for the Intellivision gaming system, would be awesome in HD with improved graphics and in the modern era (COD 4’s bombing mission comes to mind). “Bandits….12 o’clock”!!!

Burger Time, probably on the Nintendo Wii. I could see at as an XBLA game too.

    • 20 BAToutaHELL // Sep 8, 2008 at 2:01 am

Jet Moto ( ps1 ) would be great with updated graphics , as would a real Wing Commander ( pc, 3Do , PS1 ) , and I would have to change my undies for a Mech Warrior on the 360 …

Carrier Command. Controlling your own computerised super carrier and it’s fleet of aircraft and amphibious tanks, in an attempt to claim a series of resource rich islands and defend them from your evil counterpart. Great game, beautiful blend of strategy and action, and wouldn’t need much updating. Bring the graphics up to date, add multiplayer and some RPG elements and you’re away. Failing that, a sequel to Hostile Waters.

The original SMB, for 360, updated the way Bionic Commando: Reamarmed was. Wit electric guitars playing the tunes instead of bleeps and bloops. I know that will never happen though.
