[UPDATED] Rumor: Team ICO Reveals Next Project: The Queen

Team ICO are an incredible developer. First they made the beautiful ICO, and then the equally beautiful Shadow of the Colossus. Both games received critical acclaim, so the pressure’s on for Team ICO’s next project: The Queen.

Deetayles can be found after the jump.

Back in January, the first ever screenshot of Team ICO’s new game appeared on Sony’s recruitment page, dubbed ICO 3. The image showed a chain, and little else, but when a little bird told me that the mysterious project would be shown “soon”, I set up a tent and began camping out for some ICO 3 news.

Well, today was the day when I came out of my tent, poured some tea, cooked a few waffles, then sat staring at the new TGS Teaser site for ICO 3: The Queen. The site reuses the original ICO logo, but it’s unclear as to whether The Queen is a direct sequel, a spiritual sequel or something completely different. Thankfully it looks like we’ll find out at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

The site says that the game will be released in Japan, exclusively on the PS3, on, a strangely specific, October 9, 2009. So make sure you pencil that date in as ‘no work’ on your calendar.

Of course there is a chance that this entire thing is a fake, cunningly created by a humorous prankster, but let’s hope not. Fingers crossed.

[UPDATE: Destructoid are reporting that the website is completely fake, but we've still published this post because we never got round to reporting on the first ever screenshot of Team ICO's new project or that Yoshida said it will be shown soon, so this article still has some facts, with 'some' being the crucial word.]
