Rock Band 2 shipped to stores today for release on the 14th of this month. While the press release I received specified the prices of each available item, there was no mention of a bundle. I found that a little bit odd. there was also no mention of a microphone. I’m not going to get outraged, because that would involve caring a lot more than I do about pieces of plastic.
I understand though, that some of you may have a mental countdown going until the rad-ness of Rock Band 2 rains down from above, so here’s what you need to know.
All told it’s gonna cost you about $210.00 US to get into one of these babies, more than the Xbox360 you’ll be playing it on.
Here’s the breakdown.
- Software (Xbox 360) $59.99 MSRP
- Wireless Drums (Xbox 360) $89.99 MSRP
- Wireless Guitar (Xbox 360) $69.99 MSRP
The good news is that if you already have all of the old stuff, its going to work just fine, although God knows I can’t wait to unload the guitar. I am on my 4th one and it super sux.
Other news of interest in the same press release were the licensed peripherals being made by third parties.
MadCatz will offer a bass guitar (sounds to me like its wired) for 69.99. I am chuckling as I write this, because at my house we always put the newb on Bass (Easy) so they wont screw us up. I wonder how many people will actually pay that for a Bass.
For those of you who REALLY like investing in your fun, there’s a drum thing from ION called the Rock Band ION Drum Rocker that’s about $300 and features assignable colors and doubles as a real electronic drum kit.
Dude I like to rock…. But not that much.

I think for some reason the bundle for 360 will be released later on. Which is somewhat odd, but better than releasing the bundle first, which would be somewhat of a slap in the face to current RB owners.
I’m just glad that RB instruments will work on both RB2 and GHWT (allegedly). I’m very interesting in buying both games if that’s the case.

Doc, being the official Rock Band conniseur among my fellow SG members, I’m sorry that I’m kind of laughing at you. First off, it’s not news that the bundle isn’t available right away. Rock Band 2’s exclusivity for the 360 for the first month is only because it’s disc-only. They did this because of the much larger DLC-buying fanbase on the 360 over the PS3. They got the disc out now for all of the old players on the 360 who can get a headstart. The exclusive release is basically made for 360 gamers who played the last one and want the sequel. Such as me. Next off, I must say I’m not exactly happy with your disregard of the bass. I understand that most people tag off the bass as the noob instrument for the people who can’t play. I think that’s ridiculous because you’re denying yourself some insanely awesome bass songs. Sometimes it’s awesome to be the one who’s playing this deep syncopated beat for the band. I’m calling you out Doc, and saying you either never play hard or expert, or you’re just as biased to an occasionally awesome instrument as most of the “GUITAR ALL THE WAYZ F00L!!@#!” people out there. I’ve called you out. Prove your inner rock.

Can I just have a wireless microphone????? Seriously, I like dancing around while singing and I’m tired of the cord getting in the way.

60 + 90 + 70 = 210?
Don´t know which school you visited, but in mine id adds up to 220
which is btw way too much. And i´m living in europe, so it will be like 4.000 euros or something.
