It happens to the best of us, I guess. What you see above is my PS3 trying to turn on, overheating (that’d be the yellow light) before turning itself off and handily letting me know that it’s gone and f**ked itself with the flashing red light at the end. Sadface, nay, super sadface. In fact, this needs an emoticon, so here you go.
Replacement is coming a week today at the prime cost of “nothing”, which is nice but on the bad side, as I’m missing out on the bikes in Paradise City and Life With PlayStation. Hurrr.
Fanboys, have your flamethrowers at the ready. I can take it.

For you who now thinks “HA! PS3 is just as bad as 360″… But seriously, I don’t think PS3 has a 1/3 failrate. PS3 FTW!!one!1
But yeah, that sucks.. Think positive, could be worse, could be at the day of LBP/Killzone/Motorstorm release :p THAT would suck ^^
Did you try the towel trick? LOL!
*runs*
@ Rothbart: LOL!!!!

My friend’s PS3 had a disk read error and it cost him $130 to fix! *gasp*
I’m sorry to hear that Yamster.
I wouldn’t want to wish a console breakdown on anyone, but if Rothbart’s PS3 did that, it’d be ironic and a little funny.
Sorry to hear what happened Yamster.
But what really happened? Did it over heat and die on you (like the 360?) or was it some thing else?
Mine broke a few weeks ago, it took less than 2 days for them to replace my console for free. I hardly notice it gone. Only thing that sucked was I could not backup my rockband saves so had to lose them
.
Sucks for you yamster.
I’ve taken my hard drive out so it’s all good. Could have it back Monday if I wanted but I wont be in, so it’ll be Thursday.
I feel your pain as a dual console player!
I could be a dick and point out the irony here in how you always loved pointing about Sony making stable hardware and how the RROD was reason enough for you to dislike the 360. Enjoy playing the waiting game like everyone else. Here’s to hoping the next firmware update doesn’t kill your machine as soon as you get it back.
Yeah this happened to a mate of mine, i think if you buy one of those fans that stick into the usb it has less of a failure rate..
anyway hope your ps3 gets back savely,
yours,
monty
