I’ve waited a VERY long time to get a PS3. Perhaps too long.
I haven’t had to grovel to my wife for a video game for at least a year now. For the most part I’ve managed to Playswitch my way to a pretty decent collection thanks some pretty brilliant trading practices, if I do say so myself. But as LittleBigPlanet looms just a month away, I am about to begin in earnest my quest for a PS3.
Look out Wifey. I have only begun to defile myself.
Without going into everything you already know about LittleBigPlanet’s incredible array of creation tools, I was wondering if anyone had any creative suggestions on how I might convince Wifey that a PS3 is not just another “thing” that I “need” but it is actually a thing that I NEED.
Sadly I have already played a lot of the cards in my deck to get other things….. So, I need fresh ideas… and a little luck. Maybe she won’t read this post.

Maybe you can just borrow Dave’s for another weekend…sorry I meant another month.
har har har
you should try to sell its awesome media-ness and how its a cheap blue ray. and that with the ps3 you can get rid of your ps1 and ps2 (if you still got them anyway).
and says she beautiful a lot during the entire conversation. ;]
Hmm… have you tried holding your breath?
tell her you will sell the 360 to fund it.
Doc, I just call my PS3 a blu-ray player. In fact, that’s pretty much all I use it for these days. Netflix delivers blu-ray now. Of course, this argument will only work if you have a high-def TV.
Tell her it’s for the good of the site and community, that the only way you can present truly fair and balanced coverage of gaming is to own a PS3.
Maybe you could threaten her…nevermind, that only works in “certain scenarios.” Try to find a way to convince her that it will be “good for the kids,” no girl can resist that B^D (unless they’re a tomboy…..)
Ignoring Paul’s method to kill yourself, I’d outright beg. Seeing as managing to be a bi-console owner was hard enough (SOOO much work convincing my parents for 360 AND Wii.), I doubt I MYSELF can convince them for the PS3 (Maybe a PS2 if I REALLY tried… that’d be great actually…. PS2 was my favorite system…) though I suppose if I saved up my own money and did lots of extra work, I could pull it off at some point (Though LBP and Heavy Rain are kind of all I want for PS3, and I have no clue when Heavy Rain’s coming out.). Well, none of that helped you I suppose.
Promise you’ll watch a romantic blu-ray movie with her EVERY weekend in exchange.
Try bringing her to target, bestbuy, etc. and screaming at the top of your lungs, “WHY WON’T YOU LET ME GET A PS3?!?!? WHY?” Make sure she gets really embarassed. If she’s got a friend there at the store, that really helps.
Grow a pair and get the money yourself. You pull in income, as long as the kids are being fed and bills are being paid, you decide what to do with the money. You’re the man of the house, start acting like one.
Maybe you could sell it to her instead of begging. Make HER want it! :p
You could show her some of the ‘cute’ crap on LBP, or maybe a bit of Super-Rub-A-Dub
That or MGS… whatever takes her fancy
I also recommend the blu-ray method. Planet Earth is a compelling argument as far as ‘realer’ is concerned.
Doc shuffle. And no you cant have mine
just after “Extra Life” is over you can make another campaign called “LittleBig Aids” lol
Give out her email address and let the SG community beg for you
Why not just tell yourself that you don’t really need a PS3 ? After all, you would not miss very much, and think of all the room you wouldn’t loose by not buying it.
All you really need you already have, just put Too Human back in your 360 and forget about any little or big planet that could cost you your marriage.
Still, if you really absolutely want it, buy it without saying anything, wait a while, say it’s a loan by a friend, wait a little more, and finally admit it was “given to you” by the same friend. You can even argue it had not enough games or appeal to him so he wanted to get rid of it, but no one accepted to buy it from him, so he gave it to you. No one can say anything against that. (use cash to buy it, keep $10 each week or so and when you have enough, you’re clean, she won’t ever know)
I really hope I didn’t help you get something from sony though.
whatever you do DONT show her the how to kill a brand video lol.
you could show her any LBP footage and say that it’ll be great for the kids (though LBP really is for you lol) plus any other cute games E.G. that new eye toy pets game. or some more hardcore games if she’s into it
also try the folding@home argument, helping research a cure for cancer is a good one
I want a ps3 for little big planet as well, but at the end of the day, I can’t justify the purchase(damn you sony). If you gotta have one – just buy it. It ain’t worth the pride hit to beg the wife for one.
The Blu-ray angle may be your best shot.
It didn’t work form me though
tell her your homo
@Matthew Blu-Ray got me my PS3
just buy one…………..
