Well, not really. You see, I let my 3 year old daughter win. It keeps her interested and there’s really nothing like seeing my 3 year old little girl with a big smile on her face as she takes 11th place out of 12 racers… She thinks she’s winning and that’s fine by me. I’m so bored of the game, I don’t even care anymore, I just like playing and having fun with her.
That was fine until the craziest thing happened last night.
She actually won a race…
My three year old loves Mario Kart. It’s become her reward for taking a bath and getting ready for bed without fussing. Lately, she’s so enamored with it, that the mere mention of taking away Mario Kart straightens her out faster than dog with a shock collar. She likes to use the fake steering wheel to drive. When she first began playing, she was content to just drive around with no idea what she was doing. We’d play together and I’d try to win, while she just drove around until the race ended.
Lately, she’s been wanting to win races, like her daddy. So, what I normally do is race the entire race and then stop before the finish line, turn around and then drive the other way until she finishes. She thinks she’s winning the race, and I’m fine with that. Then she actually won a race last night.
She’s three years old. She really shouldn’t have the fine motor skill to win any of the races on the normal difficulty, especially since she never uses the special weapons and the fact that she uses that stupid steering wheel. She doesn’t even know that the special weapons exist.
We’ve played the game at least a hundred times. She’s finished last in every one. Not even coming close to finishing the race. Except for yesterday. During this particular race, when I saw that she was doing really good, I became excited for her and I stopped racing. I just started watching and trying to help out when I could… And she actually won the race.
Not to be outdone, my wife decided that she would take a shot and race against her. She lost legitimately two out of four times, with my wife finishing last in the last race. I’ve raised a Mario Kart animal. I don’t know whether to be ashamed, or to get her booked on Letterman…
I’m going with Letterman.
Now, if my wife would just let me show my daughter Call of Duty 4…

Yeah I did this with my son when he was younger with Double Dash one. I would have him ride in the back while I drove but now he is older and I’m having very hard time beating him at any games now so watch out Lono another year or so she will really be showing you who’s the best gamer in the house.
But is just so much fun playing with the kids and all laughing and what not too much tops it that is for sure.

Uh-oh, now you’ve done it Lono!
You’ve started her on the slippery slope, which leads to a downward spiral to what will eventually force her to endure:
“So, huh, you’re a chick then? huh huh, er, like, prove it, huh huh, show us your boobs, huh huh”
as faced by nearly every girl gamer online these days…
Ps. You only “stopped racing and tried to help” because she had you beat… right?

My nephew pronounces it mAAAArio.
When I started playing COD4 I would let my daughter sit next to me and she would be my color commentator, “shoot! shoot!…awww mommy you died. Oh mommy you died again” She doesn’t sit with me anymore.
Something you’d get a kick out of Lono: My 5yr old daughter did better than Peter on the Disney Enchanted Princess Wii game yesterday. All you have to do is wave the wand up and down.

Your enjoying it now Lono…but just wait.
Today its Mario Kart as a reward for being good, but tomorrow its coming home from a hard day at work only to find that all your high scores have been demolished, “Lil Lona”’s (a small female Lono?) gamerscore is just over 100,000 and she painted your man-cave pink.

I’ve expeirienced that too.
I always used to take it easy on my 7 year old cousin in Smash Bros. and one day he started to actually beat me. I tried to catch up, but I couldn’t.

My three year old brother could find a crap load of shortcuts on SSX. I leave the room for a second, then come back and say: “How the heck did you get there? give me the controller”
He has found 3 shortcuts per track easily, sometimes more.

Woah; a three year old beat Lono? If I raced with her, I’d get completely owned..
Seriously, you should enter her in a championship or something.
