I finally got to meet "The Ploogle"

I wrote about how seasoned gaming journalists needed to stop whining about E3 being a shell of its former self.  Now that I have seen how much more fun a convention can be when the public is there to see the goods, I reverse my opinion on E3.  PAX kicks E3’s ass.  It isn’t even close.

From the panels to the cos play to the ever-present gamer funk, PAX is a much richer experience.  It’s not just a chance for gamers to see the hottest new video games, but also a reunion of sorts.  The biggest of its kind.

We met a bunch of people who spend a year talking to their friends online and make it a point to meet each year in Seattle.  With PAX now announcing a 2010 event on the east coast, I can only imagine the PAX brand will continue to carve out its huge notch as one of the best social events for gamers on Earth.

Setting up for Mirror's Edge was a lot more fun with an audience.

The whole weekend was a blur of faces and friends.  I got to meet so many awesome community members, site leaders, and developers.  I hope that each of you will consider throwing some pennies in the cookie jar now to save up and join us at PAX 2009.  Now that I’ve been, I can’t imagine ever NOT attending.  It’s just too cool.
