The much anticipated sequel to F.E.A.R. has made a huge announcement. Sarcasticgamer got to go hands on with this title at PAX and we were not disappointed. Slaughtering super soldiers never gets old.

Let’s find out what this big news is.

I guess the developer, Monolith, got tired of telling everyone that this is the sequel to F.E.A.R. so they have officially changed the title to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. It’s a quick fix.

NOW YOU KNOW THAT IT’S A DAMN SEQUEL!

STOP ASKING!

Oh, and check it out February 10th, 2009!

I was under the impression that the name F.E.A.R. was owned by the publisher of the original (Vivendi, I think?), and that’s why they’ve never been able to legally use it. Presumably that’s changed now? Could be an interesting story.

I’m sure Lono would be more apt at describing the legal aspects of the situation.

Krelith you are right. To make a long story short they got the name back just recently after the parent company bought the company that had the rights to the name and they worked it out so that they could officially make it F.E.A.R. 2: Project Orgin. They are keeping project origin because of the community involvement. There is a much more in depth/detailed article about it on IGN and Joystiq (maybe even X3f)

Then what the hell will happen to the F.E.A.R. 2 that was in dev by Vivendi?
