We interrupt this regularly scheduled Fiction Friday for the latest on Guitar Hero World Tour…
You might have heard of “Rock Band 2″ and “Guitar Hero World Tour.” The two goliaths of music-rhythm games will be competing for your hard-earned greenbacks when they release in September (for the Xbox 360) and October. Harmonix dropped the entire “Rock Band 2″ set list nearly two months ago at E3. However, much of the track list for “World Tour” has remained a mystery. This has forced living-room rockers to use their imaginations to fill the remaining spots. Activision Blizzard has finally put an end to the speculation by revealing every tune featured in the next iteration of the “Guitar Hero” franchise.
Hit the jump to see what pseudo musicians will be shredding to this fall.
Every song on the list posted below will be a master recording. Therefore, you won’t have to worry about any crappy cover songs tarnishing your favorite tunes.

I must say that I am a bit disappointed with the final set list. There are definitely some great tracks, but some of them, such as “Everlong,” “Eye of the Tiger” and “Go Your Own Way,” will be playable in “Rock Band 2.” Plus, the Harmonix camp was able to snag Megadeth’s “Peace Sells.” That is what I like to call an automatic win.
In the end, I am going to purchase the game that I feel has the stronger set list. Now that all the tracks have been revealed, I find myself favoring “Rock Band 2.” Also, it is hard to ignore Harmonix’s superior DLC strategy. I realize that the instrument peripherals will be compatible across both games, but $60 seems like a hefty price for a handful of songs and a music studio that I won’t use.
“Guitar Hero World Tour” is set to release for the 360, Playstation 3, Wii and PS2 on October 26. The instrument bundles will be available the same day as the standalone discs.
What do you say SGC? Do you favor a particular game or will you be purchasing both? Let your voice be heard in the comments section or on the forums.

You may resume your regularly scheduled Fiction Friday, already in progress…

Personally, I’ll be buying Rock Band 2 immediately on Sunday (disc only, not too great a drummer and I don’t use the strats anyway). I might buy this disc as well for the hell of it.
…Then again pretty much all I play is Guitar Hero/Rock Band so whatever.
As the official SG Rock Band conniseur, I’ll be grabbing Rock Band 2 immediately this Sunday. I’ll probably get GH:WT around Christmas. GH:WT’s main appeal to me is it’s music creator and a few of their songs (I’m a Hendrix fan and Hot for Teacher is downright win.)
This list screams “meh”
That… sucked. Other then Tool and a couple others that just sucks.
Well I personally like that type of music so im not sure.
Meh, I don’t care. As long as I’m shredding, I’m happy.
I have a theory that Guitar Hero and Rock Band are like Coke and Pepsi. Guitar Hero is Coke, and Rock Band is Pepsi. I’m not really sure what that means, though. In the end, I’ll go with whatever game has Johnny Napalm in it. Go Guitar Hero!
Yeah, Rock Band 2 is looking much better despite GH having better character customization and the song recording feature.
http://www.ebgames.com.au/PS3/product.cfm?ID=13100 i was happy when i saw this .. yes thats right aus is actually going to get something around the same time as the rest of you spoiled people .. only the price is half a weeks work =[ so looks like no sick days off to play this after i get it but still its coming to australia in november =D same time we get rockband . which i still think is only number one with the number 2 instruments =[
If I could afford this I’d probably get it just for Filter’s Hey Man Nice Shot! oh and The tool songs will be sweet!
BMRC’s Weapon of Choice is a great song, idk Might pick it up eventully
@Lono
I agree for the most part… except one thing…
JOE %&@!ing SATRIANI!
Being able to surf with the alien is something I’ve been WAITING for forever to do.
Now if only Rock Band had it for DLC I wouldn’t have to waste 60 bucks on GH.
Already preordered Rock Band 2 with all the instruments.
As far as Guitar Hero goes…..are they serious? La Bamba! I can play it on a real guitar with my eyes closed. There is nothing about that song that would be fun to play in a video game.
Well at least we dont have to wait for almost a year for guitar hero to come out on european ps3’s
and also the GH hardware looks alot better than that of RB
and to be honest i dont really mind if the songs aren’t those that i know of. The game will be still fun to play!
I just hope GH hero make a better DLC plan this time….cause 6 euros for 3 songs on GH3 was a rip…
They need to start getting some of the master tracks for songs they did on GH2, as covers or otherwise.
