5 Games To Play During A Hurricane

When you find out that your house is in the path of a hurricane, you have to hunker down and get ready. If you are in a flood zone, YOU EVACUATE! I can’t tell you how many times I was watching the news and some dumb ass refused to leave his beach front camper, that was in the hurricane’s path, instead of going to a safer distance inland.

I recently sat through Ike, and since I wasn’t in an evacuation zone I played video games. Find out which ones, after the jump.

Call of Duty 4

This is an oldie, but a goodie. The fact that a nine man team can all play together, all talk to each other, and not have to worry about getting separated on the way to the next match, makes this a great game to play for the guy hiding in room from a big bad hurricane…especially when the SGC is on. I’d like to send a shout out to everyone that played with me on Friday night. It’s a great game where the fun never stops…until the power goes out. DAMN!

Metal Gear Solid 4

After having sat all night with the lights out, you wake up the next day to survey the damage and break out the generator, now that it won’t get carried away by high winds. While you are waiting for the power company to turn back on the power so you only plug in the necessities: fridge, box fan, TV, and your favorite console, why not pick up a game that kills tons of time? MGS4 is great because you can play and watch a long movie at the same time.

Mercenaries 2: World In Flames

With mother nature ravaging the landscape around your house, you might get fed up and figure it’s time for some pay back or role play. With the fully destructible world and a wide range of toys to obliterate it with, isn’t this the best game to play while the world around you is being blown over and/or submerged? Did I mention you can destroy everything?

Mass Effect

This game has a lot to do. Which is great because you don’t, being pretty much stationary and all. Unless you’re one of those morons that feel like dying or being filmed like the dumb ass that had to be rescued from his sinking car. Either that or a tree falls on your house. Oh and the game is pretty damn good too.

Resistance: Fall of Man

Why not spend your time saving humanity instead of twiddling your thumbs? Resistance 2 is on the horizon and you need to hone your skills. You don’t want to be rusty, when you face the Chimera on your home turf. That’s never good. Remember, idle hands go straight to the crotch.

After all I went through with Ike, I’m sure you have a question and the answer is yes. I did listen to Rock You Like A Hurricane by The Scorpions…several times. There’s nothing like listening to a song that makes you want to kick a hurricane in the dingle.
