The good folks over at Addicted Gamer have snapped a screenshot of something called ‘Halo Mythic’ at this year’s PAX. In the screenshot (available above) the version number is v1.2 (yet Halo 3 is currently on v1.1) and there was no campaign option in the menu, only multiplayer.

Joystiq caught up with Bungie’s Brian Jarrard who said that ‘Mythic’

Blown out of proportion you say? But it’s t3h Haloz! Any Haloz news is breaking news!
With Bungie not talking, all we can do is speculate: what is ‘Mythic’? Is it a new multiplayer mode focusing around the Mythic skull found in Halo 3’s main campaign? Is it a full expansion? Or maybe, just maybe, its a patch that deletes the campaign from your Halo 3 disc, and changes the second ‘1′ in v1.1, to a ‘2′.
Who knows?

It’s probably just the Halo 3 game without the campaign in, since most of the people who play Halo now just do it for the multiplayer…
They probably just wondered if just an image like that on a big tv could start it’s own myth. Looks like it can..

I heard about this, although it was said to be a map-pack for Halo 3, I cannot remember a specific date on which I heard about it, but I know it was about 2 or 3 months ago.
When the Legendary Map Pack first came out.
The game might be something like “Halo Custom Edition”, but why for the Xbox 360?, you cannot make maps from scratch on the 360?, better yet, make it easy to (emphasise “easy”) transfer via PC to 360.
At any rate, it sounds like it was a leak of information, just like Halo DS, where it was “said to exist”, with proof, but never to be released. (Rest in peace Halo DS, you would have been fun to have it on a portable consol, even you would have to admit, it would be interesting.)
its probably just a variation of the game build for PAX seeing the fact they let people play Purple Reign which is part of the mythic map pack, hence the halo mythic.
Really, that v1.2 part isn’t all that spectacular. Bungie is working on the AU2, which makes the game v1.2 when the patch arrives….probably somewhere around september.
