Torment a Monkey with Eye Pet

Eye eye, what have we here then? It appears to be SCEE’s latest game: Eye Pet. Eye personally don’t have any pets (other than two dead goldfish), so the thought of having a virtual pet does appeal to me. Eye’ve tried Nintendogs, putting a leash on my friends and even befriending a pet lamp-post, but none even come close to the real thing.

However, my hopes of having a virtual e-dog, were slashed when I watched the Eye Pet trailer. Firstly, there were no dogs, with SCEE apparently favouring a monkey-ape-chimpanzee-orangutan-gorilla thing, and secondly, all the trailer shows is unmotivated torture of the virtual pet.

The offending trailer (and a timeline of the torture) can be found after the jump.

00:00:12 – The evil girl wacks the monkey on the head with her hand, having previously forced it down into the white desk. The monkey is taken aback, and so springs up to see what is going on. Poor, poor monkey…

00:00:13 – The monkey has fangs. Vampire monkey!!!!

00:00:19 – The girl thrashes out, trying to attack the monkey with her hand, but vampire monkey is too quick, and dodges her attack.

00:00:21 – The evil girl, is now throwing fruit at the monkey, why such torment? It’s obvious monkeys love fruit (even vampire monkeys), yet she’s keeping it just out of his reach, while simultaneously trying to crush him with the fruit.

00:00:23 – The boy laughs at the monkey’s pain.

00:00:25 – Having left the monkey to sleep, the boy wakes it up suddenly, in order to scare it, confuse it and damage its ear drums.

00:00:32 – So hurting the monkey isn’t enough, huh? The boy and girl force the monkey to do their art homework, by making him draw a car.

00:00:45 – The man, high on psychopathic craziness, tries to run the monkey over with a car…repeatedly.

00:00:47 – The monkey becomes so frustrated, that it headbutts the solid wooden car, causing immense brain and skull damage. When will this evil end?

00:00:52-00:00:58 – One of the torturers (probably the girl, she always looked shifty) flashes high powered strobe lights into the monkey’s eyes, while simultaneously changing his clothes each second. The monkey appears dazed and confused.

00:01:00 – The girl strokes the monkey in a seemingly harmless way, but she has claws instead of nails and is actually trying to rip into the monkey’s flesh. He rolls onto his back, and tries to beg for mercy.

Will you condone the torture of monkeys by buying this game when it comes out in late 2009? Your purchase is your vote people.

Note: I’m not weird.
