Fresh out of the Leipzig Games Convention comes Sony’s announcement of the PSP-3000, a new model of the popular handheld that supersedes the, now retro, PSP-2000.
I know how much you guys love details, so I called them up and invited them to the worlds first ‘Picnic for Details’, which took place after the jump.
Sony have announced officially, that the PSP-3000 will have a brand new screen that’s invulnerable to glare, a built in mic, a new PS button that replaces the existing ‘Home’ button and a thinner metal ring on the back on the PSP to reduce those oh-so-annoying scratches that are so commonly associated with metallic rings. Other than that, the PSP-3000 looks exactly the same as the current PSP Slim so it’s not going to be any thinner or lighter.
The PSP-300- will hit shelves on October 15 in Europe for €199 and in North America on October 14, as part of the previously announced Ratchet and Clank bundle, or as a new ‘Core’ bundle in November, both of which cost $199.99. The ‘Core’ bundle includes the new PSP-3000, a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and a voucher for Everyday Shooter on PSN.
UPDATE: The new screen, as well has being anti-glare, has twice the colour gamut, a much improved contrast ratio and a response time that’s twice as fast.

why dont they just add a second analogue stick as well as those. then we could have FPS’s without trouble, and as we all know, FPS’s are in HUGE supply at the moment. the sony would solve the software sales and potentially save the psp.

Then all the people with the Phat PSP and the slim would be pissed of that they cant play new games that are coming out, because they are missing the second analouge stick?

So, not much change then, apart from a differently designed home button and yet another rip-off of a Nintendo console.

@ blackswordsman:
good point, but its not like the games are flowing anyway. with a second stick there would be so much room for new games without control issues (good for the hardcore crowd)
you cant deny that it would be sooooo much better with the second stick.
