Back in February Mr. Gearbox himself, Randy Pitchford, put a post up on the Gearbox forums describing his new project as “big. It’s, like, look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big.” and confirming that he himself will be heading the project.
Ok, so what could be bigger than Gearbox’s current line up of Borderlands, Samba de Amigo and Aliens: Colonial Marines? Um…a chicken club sandwich? An elephant? No, not big enough. How about Mount Everest? No, no wait, I’ve got it! Halo 4. Yeah that fits, and OXM seem to agree with me, if their October Issue is anything to go by.
Oh well, I’ve got to run. You could come with me if you want, I’m only going over the jump.
OXM have broken into visited Gearbox and reported back with a juicy rumor: Halo 4 will be developed by Gearbox for the next Xbox’s launch.
It certainly doesn’t sound too far-fetched. I mean, Halo 4 (why do I keep wanting to say Mayo 4?) would be a pretty big title and Gearbox have developed some shootastic FPSs like Brothers in Arms, so surely it would be a match made in heaven? Let’s not forget that Bungie have pried themselves from the clinging grip of Microsoft, and may not be interested in developing Halo 4, Halo Football or even Halo Party 10 and Gearbox could fill that gap.
It is only a rumor, but you’ve got to admit, it sounds pretty plausible.

I wouldn’t really want to see a Halo 4 developed even by bungie, so I REALLY don’t want to see it be developed by someone else.

They have the first Halo game listed on their website for the games they have worked on. I didn’t know they worked on the pc port. Anyhow… this does sound plausible.

There’s the Peter Jackson Halo Project, and Halo Wars to come on the 360.
Highly unlikely. Bungie has too much invested in the Halo series to let some other company develop a sequel.

if gearbox made the brothers in arms then the game will suck . Doc and I played the new brothers in arms game @ E3 at it was terrible the controls were bad and the graphics sucked. Here’s to this only being a rumor .
Yeah Gearbox did port Halo:CE for PC… and yeah, it DID have very high system requirements due to bad code optimization.
Maybe they’re working on Halo 3 PC. Would microsoft really trust any other developer than bungie with this series.

Ms can farm out halo to anyone they want now, however. Bungie, however, is working on three brand new series, one of which is very, very close to announcement.
And I’ll tell you guys AGAIN, Bungie is not working on Halo Wars, and they never have.
Seriously, if you’re one of those people who doesn’t care about Bungie (you know who you are), then please stop embarassing us true fans by coming onto the internet and acting like you know what you’re talking about.

On a side note: gearbox would be a great developer to choose for Halo 4.
