Lag to be a ‘huge problem’ for online Street Fighter IV

Firstly, frothy coffee.

Secondly, in an interview with OXM, Yoshinori Ono, Street Fighter IV’s producer, said that….

“lag will be a huge problem for online play”, as I mentioned so cunningly in the title of this very post.

Not one to give up, Ono and the SFIV team have come up with various solutions to this problem, most obviously, they’re “thinking about trying to balance it up at user interface level and input timing by using joystick or something like that.”

Wait, what? Anyone know what that means?

“We still haven’t got a complete plan as yet.”, said Yoshinori. Evidently.

Note: the ambiguity is probably down to dodgy translation.

I can tell you from playing Smash Bros Brawl online that even the slightest bit of lag can mess you up in a fighting game because the game simply cannot react with split second timing the way you can because of a bad connection/service, thus making it hard to play, and making losses unfair.
