If you head over to Jonathan Blow’s official Braid blog and muster up the effort to move your sweat encrusted scroll wheel downwards, you’ll be transported to the comments section where a very interesting discussion is going on with regards to Braid’s price point of 1200
.
Jonathan talked about the fine balance between high sales at a lower cost and lower sales at a high cost and how he does not want to go down the Jeff Minter route, where games are released too cheaply and don’t make a profit for the developer. Unfortunately Jonathan seemed to be infected by a Jeff Minter controlled parasite early on in the discussion, saying that Space Giraffe was ‘the best game on XBLA’, which, as we all know, is completely untrue. I’m still waiting for my refund Jeff.
I respect Jonathan, and with comments like ‘I don’t care about money, except to the extent that it lets me make games’, it’s fairly hard not to. For me, 800
is usually my limit on arcade games, but a combination of good reviews, interesting looking gameplay and a lovable developer, I think I might just take the plunge. How about you?

I plunged and I don’t regret it. Braid was an awesome game and getting some of those puzzle pieces was a mindf*ck. I still don’t have all of them. The game may seem short and easy if you just go from point A to point B like I did last night, but getting everything and solving the mystery could take a long time. Definitely get Braid.

I’d buy this game if it was on the PS3. But as I do not own a 360, I sadly can’t play this great looking game. Oh well *moves on*

I can’t get the second to last puzzle piece, and that is with a buddy riding shotgun, advising me on possibilities and new strategies. Game is dominant, worth every penny.
