In an interview with Joystiq at PAX 08, the lead writer on Gears of War 2, Josh Ortega, confirmed that Epic’s upcoming chainsaw-gore-fest will not have a crappy Halo 2-esque ending.
Ohhhh yeaaaaahhh. Details after the jump.

When asked whether Gears of War 2 will follow in Halo 2’s storyline footsteps, Ortega confirmed that players will “get nice closure”.
However Gears of War is a trilogy, so contrary to the popular phrase ‘you can never have too much closure’, Ortega noted that there wouldn’t be “too much where there couldn’t be room to expand, should you decide to.”
Oh well that’s a relief, I wouldn’t want to miss out on another cash in excellent game.
In other news Epic’s Cliffy B (sorry Cliff, I’m gonna call you it anyway) bluntly stated that Gears 2 won’t be coming to the PC.
“Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360, and therefore we’re focusing on that platform for Gears of War 2. We’ve decided we’re not going to do a PC version this time around.”
The original Gears was also meant to be a 360 exclusive, but, if I remember correctly (and I do), it’s out on the PC right now. How very strange.
Judging from that, I’d guess that we can expect the PC version of Gears 2 sometime next year.

The PC will probably come out. Announcing thoughs kind of things is like announcing to run for president: the best way to do it is to say you’re not. It will come out and then they can say they did for their fans even though they planned to do it anyway. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Or could it perhaps be that the PC version of the first game didn’t sell very well?

noone (on who is a pc playa) likes they’re games to be in black and white or as near as when they have a selection of over 16million colours to choose from. Why is the colour depth so godawfully shiyt on that game? Its just amazing noone really critisised it for that. The gaming itself is ok though.

I played the PC version and it was okay. However, just like the Halo port, it didn’t have the “PC Feel” most computer FPS games do. Comparitively, it was very easy to aim and kill things.
However, if they sold a decent amount on PC, why not make a port of the second one later? The Unreal Engine is relatively easy to port over systems. A little tweaking to some of the threading and I’m sure they can break out a good port. We’ll see how much PC gamers demand it.
