Non Fiction: Fable 2 has a release date

August 8th, 2008 at 8:40 am · 5 Comments

The only 'limited' part of this collector's edition is it's value. Ho ho ho.

Once there was a fable of such epic grandeur that it was passed through generation after generation, always foretelling Fable 2’s release date: a release date of…

…October 21st in the US and October 24th in Europe. Most thought it to be myth or legend, but it was not so, for this fable was true: Fable 2 really will arrive on October 21st in the US and October 24th in Europe.

Seriously, I’m not kidding.

Also announced were the contents of the Fable 2: Limited Collector’s Edition as well as a picture of the packet.

The $79.99 collector’s edition includes:

  • Bonus DVD – Includes new ‘Making-of Feature’ with Peter Molyneux and the team at Lionhead Studios and concept art viewer
  • Bonus In-Game Content (Requires LIVE account) – Includes “The Hall of the Dead” Dungeon, “The Wreckager” Legendary Cutlass Weapon and Otherworldly Bonus
  • Collectible Hobbe figure with accessories – From the Qee Collection comes this one-of-a-kind Hobbe figure. Nasty, brutish, and short, he roams the countryside, preying on travelers and spiriting away the children of the unwary.
  • 48-hour Xbox LIVE Gold Trial Card – With Xbox LIVE Gold, players can show off their individual hero by inviting friends into their unique version of Albion or they can visit their friends’ Albion, and earn additional gold, experience and renown to take back into their own.
  • Five printed Fate Cards – These five beautiful cards foretell the Hero’s great destiny to journey across all of Albion, encountering deadly enemies and enigmatic allies. The path leads to a choice that will change the world forever.

If you can’t wait till October to get your Fable 2 fix, then you can pick up the Fable 2 Pub Games on August the 13th, by pre-ordering or spending 800 points.

Unfortunately I’m always impartial to nice packaging, so I think I may plonk down the extra cash for the Limited Edition, but I’ll get the pub games for free with a pre-order thereby creating the perfect balance between ‘poncy show off who wastes his money’ and ‘guy who pre-orders a game he’s going to get anyway for a free XBLA title’ – the world is in equilibrium for another day. *Sigh of relief*

So, there will be extra content available when the game is launched, and I’m being charged extra for it?

I love the hell out of Fable and I probably will love Fable II, but this is bull…
