Sarcastic Gamer’s resident ninja (who will remain anonymous for security purposes) has risked everything to deliver to us a brand new report on Nintendo’s up-and-coming Wii Music rhythm ‘game’, revealing that the game has had a bit of a makeover since its atrocious E3 showing.
The unique makeover and all of its original ideas follow after the jump.
Rather than simply involve swinging the Wiimote in time with the notes and chords of various songs (strumming it in time to the Tetris theme or swinging to the beat of Super Mario) Nintendo have since realized that this is the wrong direction to take and have decided to work on which one unknowing programmer described as ‘a completely innovative and brand new approach to music games’.
According to our master of stealth, infiltration, espionage and tight black pajamas, Wii Music’s unique new approach involves notes scrolling down the screen towards the player. As the notes cross a predetermined bar at the bottom of the game’s display, the player hits the buttons on their Wii Remote which correspond to the notes, allowing for more effort to be put into the game than just waggling around Wiimotes and Nunchaku.

Intriguingly, the loose-lipped Nintendo employee revealed that the company is also working on instrument-shaped peripherals such as drums, guitars, pianos and saxophones which will allow gamers to become properly involved in whatever instrument they choose to play, as well as ensure that they nail the notes in just the right place, rather than play them in whatever silly time signature they feel is appropriate.
This is truly revolutionary. Nothing’s been done like this before and without question the move will make Wii Music another phenomenal success following Wii Sports and Wii Play. We contacted Nintendo for comment, but they delivered a stern ‘no comment’. Oh well. I’m looking forward to trying out this new form of gameplay when the game is released; utterly unique in every way, it’s definitely going to be worth checking out for the originality factor alone.

Mein Gott in Himmel!
What a watershed moment for the rythm-based/stick-waggling sub-genre of music simulators!
Truly, we have reached the next generation.

It would be hilarious if the use of Mii’s were enabled in the the Wii version of GH3 or World Tour.
But then again, my Mii looks like a light bulb with a goatee & glasses so maybe not.
